I bought this Sportster new in 2004. I rode it about 700 miles and then tore it completely apart to make it one of a kind. The bike is called COUNTERFEIT. The theme for the bike was created because I build Hot Rods for a living and don't consider myself a "real" biker. My friends and I joke around about how some guys look the part have the bike but deep down are not real bikers also known as Counterfeits. Thus the theme was born. The paint work was done by me. There is a total of $2500 worth of "counterfeit" money inlaid and custom painted all over the bike. There are no decals anywhere! The method of painting these is something I developed and I will only reveal the "how did you do that?" to the new owner. Again these are not stickers. The paint is all done in house of Kolor candy greens and Orion Silver with more coats of clear than I can count. The paint job alone would cost over 5k if done for a customer.
The frame is the original Sportster frame that was widened in the rear and a custom chrome swing arm installed It now has a 250/18 rear tire and a 21" on the front with Colorado Custom wheels. I currently have a set ofstruts on the back that were custom machined to get the rear down where I wanted it. Of course this makes it a hard tail but you could easily put on a set of shocks if you want a softer ride. The oil tank is now an integral part of the frame and located under the seat. The front end was raked and a wide style Perse front end added. The seat height is very low. I am 5'6" tall and I can sit the bike with bent knees and reach the handle bars and forward controls easily. My 6' tall buddy seams pretty comfortable on it as well. I have ridden several custom bikes that are uncomfortable so this one is built with those things in mind. The bike rides and handles very nice.
The engine was left stock for reliability. The heads have been diamond cut and completely polished. The engine was ground smooth and painted a dark candy green. It has held up very well.I wanted this bike to look completely custom but have the reliability and ride-ability of a brand new bike. Every factory element still works. including the module that shuts the bike down when laid over (although untested!) horns signals you name it it works as it should. Some stock items were re-used but simply re-located such as the turn signals and horn. If you are looking for a bike that turns headson bike night and rides as nice as a new bike this may be the one for you. The tin consist of custom front and rear fenders the stock tank was modified and all the other cladding you see was custom made from fiberglass. The headlight is a V-Rod unit in a custom made bucket. The list goes on and on.
I have only ridden the bike 1963 total miles since new. I am selling so someone with more passion for riding can enjoy the bike and I can use the money for other projects. The only known defects are a few small chips that won't even show up in a photo. The chrome on the pieces below the swing arm is fading. These are made of fiberglass and were then chrome plated it has not held up well but you really have to be looking to notice. Also some chrome has begun to peel on the hand grips but very minor. It has a brand new battery and is ready to ride.
This is probably one of the nicest Sportsters you will ever see. It has not been shown a lot but did win best of show at the KC World of Wheels a few years ago and placed well in an Easy Rider show against some of the best known builders in the country. You will not be disappointed. I believe this to be the most ride-able show worthy bike around.
The reserve is less than half of the build price. I reserve the right to end the auction early and all that stuff. Payment by Cash or Cashiers check only. Any shipping or transportation costs are on the buyer.
