Description

Just testing the market to see if its worth selling my WLA. I have been eyeing the new diesel trucks and can use this sale towards a new truck..... So here is the story: I purchased this bike in February of last year from a Dealer only motorcycle auction in Atlanta GA. Upon receiving the bike here in CA I was so impressed by the condition of the bike that I decided to place it in my collection as a tribute to my grandfather who served in WW2. Along with the purchase the auction house gave me the contact # for the selling dealer. Here are some points of that conversation we had on the history of the bike from the seller:
-The bike was purchased out of Poland in the mid 1990s by the owner of Granite Mountain and Stone Mountain Harley Dealers. He found the bike while on vacation in Europe.
-The bike was on display in the window of Granite Mountain HD in Conyers, A.
-When the bike made it back to the USA the owner got it running and replaced the tires.
-The bike was ridden occasionally in parades in the late 1990s, he mileage on the trip is how much it was ridden total (30.5 miles)
-In 2003 Harley Davidson borrowed the bike for 14 months as part of the traveling museum that visited many HD dealers that eventually ended in Sturgis.
I do not have any documentation in regards to what was discussed with the seller.
Now about the Condition: Since getting the bike back I have not started it myself so there are no guarantees. I am no expert but this bike appears to be all original except for the tires! The saddle bags, eat, nd thompson sleeve are original leather from the factory, hey came with and still have russian/polish news papers that were printed in 1995. I am not sure if the bike was part of the lend lease act but there are no Allied forces identification on it, he miles seem to have been very easy due to the bike not showing much wear or abuse. Mirror clamp and stem were in the bag but no mirror itself. The heads look like they were removed and painted black (I would guess in the 1990s when it was running). Some paint on the floor boards and the spokes is flaking off due to being approx 73 years old. the seat leather was conditioned at some point. The serial # puts the production between Sept 1943 and May 1944. The 42wla number looks to have a indent on the 4, t is still legible and was probably a factory flaw.
I have a Bill of sale from the auction I purchased it from, o title has been issued in any state. I too will provide a Bill of sale to the new owner.
