1974 AMF Vintage Sportster XLCH

1974 AMF Vintage Sportster XLCH. The bike is listed as a 1974 for registration purposes. because the vin# on the motor is an "H4" year 1974. everything else is 1973 as I built it. Here we have a six year restoration that I finished in 2013. Every nut. bolt and washer has been scrutinized for assembly. I have not registered this bike. I have no title. Bike comes with bill of sale. This sporty is brand new for a 40 year old motorcycle. Frame and swing arm have been powder coated. Rear brake drum powder coated plus chain guard. Wheels are the original sizes of 19" front and 18" rear. Chrome rims are in good condition. trued and balanced.  Tires are original Goodyears with no cracking and good treads. Front forks are NOS. fork tubes and lower legs. Main wiring harness is NOS. front switch wiring is NOS. All wiring is in excellent condition. not spliced anywhere. Everything works. lights. horn. turn signals. brake lights. all good. Engine is standard bore with NOS pistons (Harley Davidson). Cylinders have been wrinkle finished black. Transmission has been rebuilt to Harley specs according to manual. NOS gears have been installed. shifts very smooth. As you know 1974 was the last year for right side shift. This an XLCH. which is a kick start only. Starting is a learned condition with kick start bikes. Two squirts of throttle is all you need and kick. Starts easy. No smoke at tailpipes. Exhaust header pipes with heat shields are NOS. with 65A mufflers in excellent used condition. no holes in baffles. sounds great. Heads have been reconditioned with new valve guides and valves. Rocker arms have been reconditioned with new exhaust rocker arms and good used intake rocker arms. Engine cases have been bead blasted before assembly. Belly numbers match. Clutch is in very good condition with clutch cover clear powder coated. New clutch cable. Sprocket cover has been clear powder coated. Cams are "P" set for 1974. Bike has a new chain. New voltage regulator. New generator. New battery. New coil and spark plug wires. The paint set if you noticed is not from 1974. It's a 1973 decal set that is NOS which I personally like. Tank and fenders are all NOS. never been on a bike. Champagne Silver paint was done in 2013. Paint is actually a 1976 color. It looks awesome. no scratches or dents anywhere. Carburetor is a 38mm Bendix that has been rebuilt. I'm sure I left some stuff out of the description. but truly a collectable sporty or just ride it.
