 1997 Harley Davidson MT350 Military/Combat spec. California plated with current registration until 6/15. These bikes were made in the USA by Harley Davidson in the mid 1990's for a British Military contract. Very durable and strong they were designed to be used on and off-road. Factory equipped with a gun case. removable panniers. blackout lighting. radar reflective NATO spec paint. disc brakes. electric & kick start. This bike was used by British Special Forces (SAS). and still has the UK Ministry of Defense ID tags. New Battery. new tires. starts and runs strong. lights work except the brake light is not working. Brakes etc all work fine. Recent oil change. 8. 00 miles. Very rare machines. have lots of Harley Davidson logos on them and always get a lot of attention. Never sold in the US. these are very collectible and a great investment. The MT350 is one of the rarest and lowest production motorcycles ever made by Harley-Davidson in their York. PA. Manufacturing plant. Spare parts are available in Great Britain from Force Motorcycles as the aging fleet of MT-350's are sold as military surplus over there. The only modifications to this bike from stock are a 75 watt amplifier and two 4 inch coaxial speakers installed in the removable panniers for use with an Ipod or MP3. Harley-Davidson produced; About 3500 MT350's and MT500's from 1995 to 1998 HISTORY The development of this Harley-Davidson MT350 was started by an Italian company called SWM Motor Works. They used an Austrian engine called the Rotax which came in 350cc and 505cc sizes. After winning several trials championships and two world championships. the company liquidated. In 1984 Armstrong of Bolton. England bought the rights to SWM Motor Works. Armstrong made this motorcycle from 1985 to 1989. In 1989 Harley-Davidson bought Armstrong primarily to have the rights to the Rotax engine which was used for their dirt-track racing teams. Harley-Davidson did not win a US military contract for these motorcycles because they went to what was called a ONE fuel Army - Diesel. This bike runs on gasoline. These motorcycles are very rugged and can stand extreme desert temperatures. rocky terrain and harsh environments. They can even stand "torrents of fording water" as the operation manual states.
