For sale - my newly-built Honda XBR cafe racer. The plan was to build a usable classic. so the engine has been left standard. complete with air filter and a moderately loud Micron stainless steel exhaust. I've been wanting to build one of these for ages. and have really enjoyed putting this together. It looks brilliant. and quickly draws an admiring crowd. As you can see from the pictures. the original dual seat has been converted to a solo. The seat still has most of its foam. and has been professionally re-covered with a mix of alcantara and vinyl. with silver piping. The rear end is made up of a modified XBR seat cowl around a rear light from a Honda CB900 which has been trimmed down to fit neatly inside the cowl. The fairing is a brand new Carbon Moto item in fibreglass. The wheels are the standard Comstars. and have polished up nicely. The fuel tap was leaking so I installed a new rebuild kit which has brought it back to life. New parts:Air & oil filtersWheel bearingsChain and sprocketsSteering head bearings (taper roller)Fork oil sealsFront brake pads (Ferodo)Handlebar-end mirrorNumber plateThe paint was professionally done to a very high standard. I was delighted with the job. The colour scheme is modelled on a classic Ducati 900ss. Much of the alloy has been polished. and comes up gleaming. The bike starts on the button and goes very well. The clutch and gears are fine. and the brakes work well. The handlebars are the standard ones. turned upside down on the yolks to lower them for the fairing. This gives a reasonably comfortable riding position with a sporty feel. No indicators are fitted at present which I'm comfortable with. but the switch and wiring is still in place if you want to add them. The tyres look very good with plenty of tread left. but are budget items (Barracuda) which lack feel in use. Serious riders would probably want to fit some better ones. In keeping with an aim of making the bike usable. it's still got a centre stand as well as a side stand. I retained the standard front mudguard and kept the plastic rear mudguard. trimmed down a bit here and there. I've kept all the original bits from the build and will include these in the sale. These include the kickstart. indicators. headlight mounts etc. They add up to quite a lot of weight. and the bike does feel nice and light without them. Having built this bike up to a good standard. I'm ready to do another one. I've got a Yamaha SRX 600 ready to begin but need the space and money from the XBR - hence the sale. Viewings welcome. The bike is kept in a lit brick garage. so evening viewings are possible.
