Description

1971 Honda SL350 - Vintage Classic Survivor This is an unrestored bike. 9600 miles. no known major overhauls. accidents. or mods. Generally in good condition and looks sharp. It is kickstart only. It has been. and is running great at the moment. but. is being sold “as-is” . There was/is confusion as to which sub-model this is. I originally listed it as K1. because it was kick start only. Others who appear to know more about bikes than me are saying that its a K2. But let me be clear. KickStart only. if it is K2 . electric start is not there. I will list the most obvious downsides first. - Brakes are functioning. but everyone who has ridden it. thinks they need to be tightened up. - Plastic covers under the seat have had a shabby paint job. - The tool kit and screw on cover are missing. - Mufflers . hich are not cheap. or easy to find. have both had patch jobs. One side before i had the bike . and the other side was fixed but needed a slightly larger clamp. (i still have original). also the recent patch job (see pics) could use a paint finish. easy job that someone will likely do better than me. -Various Nicks and scratches. The biggest being the scratch across the gas tank. its not a showroom bike…. - Kind of a gas hog right now. ill let someone else diagnose. - Really winds up on the highway. if you plan on lots of highway riding. your going to want to re-gear. Now for the upsides. - This bike is “Turn-key” (+kick)” . ready to ride! - Notoriously easy to ride and maintain. bulletproof engine. Easiest kick start ever…. - Lots of fun responsive low end torque. - Also a great off road trail rider. - Awesome bike for a smaller framed rider. - Collectors appeal. Google this bike and you will get fantastic reviews from the 70’s until present. People love this bike. Many who remember them back in the day. are hanging on to these. - Just a nice looking motorcycle in my opinion. This bike had spent a few years at the back of a workshop in NY when i got it. Brought it with me to CA and let it sit for another year in a trailer. Finally went through all the time and effort at the DMV to get an untitled NY bike. issued a clean CA title and registration. Let a friend who knows his way around bikes take a look at it. and he sent me out for new battery. lugs. . uel lines/filter. and had it running by the end of the afternoon. After that . it was ridden by the same person for a couple months as a daily rider. and it had all sorts of tweaking . cleaning. and fiddling. It was then put back in the trailer for a couple months. I pulled it out to take pictures. and it fired up on the first kick. the video is about 30 seconds after it first started up. She is ready to go! 1971 Honda SL350 eBay Vid Located in East Bay for pick up or drive away. but I can deliver anywhere between San Pablo and Berkeley / Emeryville . San Francisco . or Marin if needed. here is some more info from the internet… Interesting SL350 Trivia There are 2 generations. 1969-1970 and 1971-1973 & there are many differences between them. 1971-73 SL350's were kick start only. The 71-73 uses a different frame (it has a stronger. lighter frame with thinwall double downtubes). wheelbase is longer. different headlight. fenders. seat. tank. forks. shocks. drivechain/sprockets (16t front. 40 rear. 520 pitch) chain cover. swingarm. sidecovers. toolbox. exhaust/mufflers. brakes (smaller. lighter. but more powerful). aluminum fenders. 27 mm. piston type carbs (better throttle response and low end torque). different tach (71-73 redline arc on tach is from 9. 00 to 10. 00 rpm). The 71-73 SL also uses a different head with smaller ports and a different cam both of which are once again geared toward more low end torque. The 71-73 weighs over 50 pounds less than the 69-70.
