Frame up restoration of an exceedingly rare 1963 Honda domestic version CL72 Scrambler. Frame no. CL72 63 340894 Engine no. CL72E 340903 I bought this bike several years ago from a gentleman who bought a storage room at auction and found the bike inside. I have the original California documentation from 1972-75 including the pink slip. the unused 1975 license plate sticker. and the black Californiaicensr plate. I also have a danagedlicenseatd from Okinawawheretbdbike may have been purchased by the GI who brought it to California. He used it as a racer and bored out the cylinders to 305 cc. He also had a separate non-stock racing type seat. The original seat as a result has minimal wear and is really in excellent condition. I undertook a complete restoration. Please note that this bike is all original other than the engine changes noted. An nos head and standard cylinders replaced the prior "305". An nos cam chain and upper end and lowercase gasketsseals etc were installed and the engine was gone thru thoroughly by an experienced restorer/mechanic. The frame was stripped down and the frame and all red parts powder coated. All the chrome has been professionally report. The tank and dude covers are painted. The tires are new period correct Cheng Shin. The wire harness is nos but the old one has been retained for documentation The front and rear aluminum fenders are nos and polished. The chain guard is perfect. Both spoke sets are nos. Please note now some of the unique original parts on this bike: 360 degree crankshaft and single coil Sand cast front and rear hubs/brake plates Original Speedometer in Kms/hr Dual pedal shifter pedal Front and rear turn signal lights Blank oil cover One piece (non moveable) foot rests Rare diamond checkered handlebar grips (these are troops from original nos) This motorcycle has never been started and the wire harness needs hookup. The turn signal lights were not on the original bike but we're typical for domestic version CL72's . As such I have installed them and the wire harness is suitable for the hookup. This is an amazing historical production of an early Honda scrambler made for the Jaoanes or at least Okinawa domestic market. It has great history and will be an incredible addition to someone's collection. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
