Description

I have for sale my board track racer tribute built on a 1976 Honda Xl350 motor. The frame is built by Speed-Machine Motorcycles and is all hand fabricated. Only the seat and the fender is made elsewhere. The wheels are 23" 79-81 Honda and the tires are Mitas European ice tires, ot available in US. It comes with a new set of Mitas speedway knobby tires. Spokes are stainless from Buchanen. The forks are patterned after old Indian leaf springs.Working headlight is a modified 1907 Dietz kerosene driving lamp. Tank is custom made and all pinstriping is buried in clear. Seat is a Mesinger board track racer replica. Oiler on backbone serves as a choke mechanism. Drop Indian bars are nickel plated and have repop leather cable covers with internal throttle.. Sprockets are all nickel plated. Chain is 530 Xring chrome plated. Pictures show friction tape handgrips, urrently has leather wrapped grips for show season. "Magneto" hides the coil and uses old cloth covered wire. All wiring is new cloth covered wire. Pedals act as footrests but spin within the jackshaft. Rear hub is a Honda front hub that has been modified as a drive hub to keep narrowness on bike. Tail light shown is replaced with a 1920's Lucas 344 carbide lamp. All plating is nickel as it was in the 'teens. All fasteners are polished stainless. Bike is registered in Vermont with transferrable registration but can be titled in Wisconsin at buyer's expense. Fair warning, isconsin sucks at getting the transfer done quickly. Air cleaner has been straightened and re brass plated. Carb has small parts plated now. Gas filter is plated now. Brass all polished now for shows and paint chip on left rocker repaired. The lights run from the alt directly. No battery required.
No, here never was an Oldsmobile track racer. It's a made up thing using my last name. Yes it runs. Yes it's fast. No, don't know how fast it goes, 'm too scared to open it up. No, t doesn't ride like a Goldwing. No, ou probably won't want to take it on a long trip. Top speed on stock XL's was 78MPH. It weighs about 200 lbs so it is light. Yes it's street "legal" meaning it has a head light and a brake/tail light.
It is a show queen and a hit wherever it goes. You've never seen another like it. No silly Chinagirl motors in bicycle frames here. It has been invited to show at Iron Invasion Woodstock, l, etro Rewind Dubuque IA, he One show in Portland OR, ull Throttle Bike Builder Invitational in FL, arage Brewed show in Cincinnati, ama tried in Milwaukee, ikes at the Brewery LaCrosse WI, nd waiting word on the Handbuilt show in Austin TX. Bike was 1st place in Vintage class at Full throttle Bike Builder Invitational (Feb issue Full throttle) and Best of Show at Bearded Lady show in Minneapolis MN.
Watch the cameras come out as you ride in. Still on show circuit but I have an idea for my next build.
