Description

Honda Cub 901980 6v ModelRecent new battery. recent upgrade to rear shocks (CB100 I seem to remember) recent new seat cover. recent coil and condensor. recent spark plug. recent oil change also. There is little rust. wheels are worst. not much to mention anywhere else. especially in the usual mudguard mounting areas. really solid there.  I have moved the rear indicators within the rear rack frame to avoid damage when 2up with luggage. Works well. not in its original format. The rack is from a slightly newer model cub and as such has been slightly modded to fit. Its good and strong and fit for purpose. This Cub was bought as a project after sustaining some water damage to the electrics. hence the coil and some wiring. It was an easy fix and fired right up shortly after a squirt of new fuel.  Hedwig was born. My wife and I then stuck it on the back of the camper and took it to Sardinia with us. we used it everywhere we stopped on the way and rode to the beach and back every day. It carried all our beach gear. our shopping and us from A to B without fault. unless you count the slow speed when fully loaded as a fault. We rode it along the coast road in the south up and down winding mountain lanes and tracks and it never ever let us down. We even rode it to our friends wedding on the beach. (the purpose of the whole trip)It is absolutely reliable. dependable. comfy. but slow when 2up. When we used the scooter on holiday. we had a big basket on the back to carry stuff. Since returning I have sourced an age appropriate top box. Its got brackets and is included in the sale. There are some 6v Led bulbs as well. While Hedwig the Horrible was awesome on holiday. he just isn't up to the length of my commute. the wife doesn't ride a bike. and I cant find a good enough reason to keep him. especially when he is spending all his time locked up in the garage. This isn't really a contender for a full resto. I reckon you can find a better one elsewhere in all honesty. This isn't really a contender for a full on commuter either. Its not quick or powerful. The 6v lights are ok. but not great.  However. it is a bit different as an L bike. a commuter bike for a shorter journey. a reliable pop to the pub. shop. mates house steed. It would probably also do well as a rally vehicle. given the look Hedwig has going on already maybe add some fur on the seat. some leather satchels and you'd fit in well at the Elefantentreffen.  http://www. elefantentreffen. com/ Its comfy. really cheap to run (80-100mpg). tax (£17). insurance (low). maintenance is easy so could be free if you feel so inclined!I think it looks cool. but I guess its in the eye of the beholder. If you have any questions. let me know. Probably worth looking at it before buying it. that is before the end of the auction though. You bid you buy. It isn't new. its 34 years old. You wont get a brand spanking new scooter. you'll get a tinkered with. in need of tlc. one of a kind. full of character. solid little runaround that will run you around the world if you want it to. If we are all clear. let the bidding commence.

On 09-Oct-14 at 11:18:56 BST. seller added the following information:

Just took Hedwig for his annual MOT. He passed with two advisories. Front spoke slightly bentFront spoke rusty. I knew this already. I think I mentioned it in the condition section. so no surprises.  However. I also noticed on the ride there and back that the throttle cable seemed to have quite a bit of slack. It may have always been there. but I'm not sure. I'm going to investigate further and may end up either replacing or repairing the fault. It didn't really affect the ride-ability of the thing but it did need a little bit of getting used to. Just wanted to be clear on this. Those of you with bids already placed. please contact me if you have changed your mind. Thanks
