Engine starts right up, dles and runs well - compression in cylinder #1 159-160 psi, 2 159-161. High and low beam headlight as well as tail and brake light work properly. Horn works but is a little weak. Brakes work fine. Steering is straight and smooth. Clutch is good but there is a major issue I'm told probably with the shifting fork - grinding noise occurs when shifting into 1st and 2nd gear (3rd and 4th is good). This started acting up last year shortly after I put a limited number of test miles, nd after I thought all the mechanical issues were addressed.
I bought this bike from the original owner in August, 974. The Missouri title I have is dated 09/04/74. I put a few thousand miles on it the first year or two. Around 1977-78 I had the tank, ide covers and rear fender professionally painted metallic blueas seen in the recent photos. Raising a family riding time got less and less and for several decades I’d get it out of the garage, tart it up for a short ride andput itaway foranother year of dormancy. I movedthree times, lways with the idea of doing a restorationwhen I retired. Retirement came in 2013 so I started restoration plans. In 2014 I realized I needed help, ots of it, o I sourced a local mechanic that restores Hondas on weekends. He finished the mechanical work in December, 014.
