This is a 1989 Honda NX250 with 4500 miles on it. It is in very good condition, eally nice considering it is 27 years old. Once these bikes are set up properly, hey are amazingly quick, nd fun bikes to ride. Way ahead of their time. Because you couldn't buy too many 250cc, ater cooled, our stroke dual sport/adventure bikes in 1989.
They certainly have their faults though. The suspension is frighteningly bad stock. This one has been fixed though, ith a Works Performance shock($500), nd CRF230F fork springs and heavier fork oil. These absolutely transform this bike so that the bike handles like it should. It also raises the bike a bit, o I had the side stand professionally extended so the bike remains properly leaned over when it is used.
It also comes jetted extremely lean from the factory. Borderline ridiculous. This bike has a Factory(brand) jet kit in it and it has been installed and tuned properly. It runs awesome!
Within the last month, he oil and filter have been changed(with Honda HP4 10W40), long with the coolant. The brake fluid was flushed and replaced as well. The bike has very few miles on it since this maintenance was performed.
This bike will do basically 90 MPH stock so I geared it down. You can change it back to stock if you so desire, r somewhere in between, s I am including the stock rear sprocket which has very little wear. It has a new premium DID x-ring chain on it.
The other fault with these bikes is the bodywork. It is the lousiest bodywork has Honda ever put on a motorcycle. I'm just being honest here. I've been in the M/C business for a very long time and this is the worst. It doesn't fit the bike as well as most Hondas. I am a certified Honda technician so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not a know it all though! Having said all that...the bodywork on this one is in pretty good shape compared to most of them. The previous owner dropped it and broke some of it and bent the upper fairing stay. So I replaced the stay with a new one, nd bought some white bodywork instead of the blue that was on it because it doesn't show the scratches so easily. I'm just giving full disclosure here.
Even though the stock brakes are fine, put a EBC oversize brake disc kit on the front. The brake works great! The stock brake parts are all included. I also have a Honda owners manual that goes with the bike. If you have any questions at all, lease ask.
So why am I selling this bike? I have another one that I'm building into a more dirt oriented bike. A true dual sport. Definitely not for everyone in the form I am going to build it. But these are awesome and very quick little bikes. They were way ahead of their time. They are the ultimate sleepers. Thanks for looking.
