Honda CX500 1979

Hi. you are bidding on a 1979 CX500. I got this bike about 18months ago and intended to restore it. but due to time and work commitments I have not had the time to complete it. I have decided to sell this and my 125cc commuter and buy a more modern bigger bike. I have been using this bike for the past 18 months and it has never let me down. been on long runs and short commutes and it just goes on & on. It is in good road worthy condition and is ready to drive away. 8 months MOT left with no advisories.

This bike has had lots done to it mechanically. but is in need of some TLC. not really suprising when you consider it is 35 years old!

Recent work;

New Stator

New water pump

New Mechanical water pump seal

New uprated rear shock absorbers

New Front braking system including braided lines (cost ??300)

Carburettor refurb. recent oil change. oil & air filter changed.

New ignition lock.

New seat cover.

Almost new tyres

Not so good bits;

Overall bike is tatty. tank could do with respray. front mudguard is rusty. wheels could do with a clean up. Two small oil leaks. one from the oil drain plug. and one from the rear crankcase cover. Exhaust cross member has a pinhole in it. cant see it and definately cant hear it but it is there. Fork seals are starting to mist.

Bike will come with some of the original bits I upgraded and a haynes manual.

Ideal commuter if left as is. conversion to cafe racer. or a restoration job!
