1989/1990 HONDA CBR600F-L/F-K RED/WHITE

Here we have for sale my noble steed of a 1989/90 Honda CBR600FK/L. Its an excellent dependable old warhorse which has covered a mere 46000miles and has very rarely let me down so I'll be sad to see her go. but I only do a couple of thousand miles a year and a newer replacement means I'm going to move it on providing some kind soul is prepared to cough up what I think its worth. The bike is the frame from a 1990 FL fitted with the engine. running gear. bodywork & electrics from my previous bike. a 1989 FK. owned by me since 1998. I combined the two in 2011 when I discovered a slight warp in the frame of the FK and bought the FL as a frame + spares deal which didn't include the motor. The speedo is from the FL which is showing 90000 miles but this only applies to the frame. reg plate and speedo. everything else is from my FK. The FK speedo was in KM as it was a parallel import so I didn't re-use it. The V5 was corrected at the time and is showing the correct VIN and engine numbers. I have the MOT certificates for the FK going back to 1995 to verify the mileage. When I swapped the frame the FL speedo was on 85000.

The bike is all standard apart from mini rear indicators and black painted wheels and frame. I painted the frame and ancillaries in 2011 so there is no corrosion lurking out of sight. I hardly ever ride in the rain. that?ˆ™s what cars are for. The fairing lowers are not present. It is in fairly good overall condition but it is 25 years old and has normal wear and tear. The upper fairing and front fender have been scratched and rather poorly painted over with brushed white enamel. see photos. I always meant to get around to fixing this but hey ?ˆ“ ho. I never did. It doesn?ˆ™t look too bad from 10 feet or so. The exhaust headers are stainless steel. The silencer is original factory type. so nice and quiet and good for stealth riding. The brakes were overhauled last year with new piston seals and pads all round. The discs are in excellent condition. The forks are not pitted and do not leak. The chain and sprockets were replaced in 2011 with a one tooth larger front sprocket for better motorway cruising and economy. I get around 60mpg day to day out of it. The acceleration is still excellent. The engine runs well and although not as quiet as a new one has no nasty noises. does not smoke or burn oil. The camchain tensioner is modified for manual adjustment. as a well known weak spot of these motors is the feeble oil pressure driven original system. There is a slight whine in third gear but its always been there and is not a problem. if you wear earplugs it goes away. The coolant level never changes. The carburetion at tickover is a little lumpy and would benefit from a carb balance and tune up. It always starts well. Tyres are Avon Roadriders. front 5mm. Rear 3mm. Oil & filter replaced last year. There is no mainstand fitted. someone cut the old one out and to fit one properly would require a small amount of welding. I have one which I use for servicing only which is included in the sale. The left hand side of the radiator is slightly dented. The MOT is new and expires in Sep 2015. Tax expires end Sep 2014. but with the new rules it?ˆ™s not transferable after then anyway.
