Description

1976 Honda CB750F – The bike Honda should have built

The base bike is a 1976 Honda CB750F. I have owned this motorcycle for 3 years now. When I received the bike there was a frame and motor and some parts to make it a roller. Over 2 years on and off this bike has taken on a form like no other and new life. As mentioned earlier this is a 1976 Honda CB750F and has a clean Colorado title. I have now completed the break-in of 1000 miles so it is no longer a new 38 year old bike. The speedometer shows nearly 27. 00 miles. but as you can see from the lists below that this is in essences a new motorcycle. During the break in there were 3 oil and filter changes and now the final tappet and cam chain adjustment has been completed until the next schedule maintenance.

This CB750F is like no other CB750 out there today. The style and design of the bike make it an eye catcher while retaining the classic period look. The bike has tremendous stability on the road. at low or high speeds. The bike runs effortlessly at high speeds 85 mph and up. I have not opened this bike up but I am confident it will well exceed 100 mph. The Don Vesco fairing makes this bike a joy to ride at high speeds. The wind seems non-existent. Many curves on the roads are easily done at double speed with a high level of confidence. The 18” front and 17” rear tubeless rims allow for buying modern tires and many different tire options are available. unlike the stock steel spoke wheels. Modern tires provide higher speeds. better cornering and longer life.

Just completed a frame off restoration 5/2014

Frame and frame parts. motor mounts. swing-arm. battery box. tool box. chain guard. foot peg mounts. kick stand and lower triple tree media blasted and painted (frame has been slightly altered). I have removed the fork stops and added new ones to work with the CB900F Forks and triple tree. I have also modified the swing arm pivot bolt hole size in the frame bolster to accommodate a larger diameter pivot bolt from the CB900F swing arm. See Suspension & Brakes below.

Motor rebuilt and bored to 836cc (low compression build. runs on mid-grade fuel with 44 mpg with a high of 57 mpg. Some would ask why the low compression pistons. Two reasons cost and reliability. )

The fairing is a Don Vesco Rabid Transit fairing. Extremely rare. This is the last one I have seen for sale in over three years. Some articles say it adds 10 to 20 mph on the top end without engine performance mods. (Don Vesco held land speed records at Bonneville. His brother still races there today. )

There are two wind screens for the fairing the one that is shown in the pictures and an upright wind screen that I think is original to the fairing.

Extra Parts

If you are a Honda purest liking 100% stock and original motorcycles this bike is most likely not for you. although I would be honored if you bought it. But for those that want a bike that is different than everyone else’s in appearance. style and design this may be for you. If you are looking for something that you can ride with confidence and comfort and still have power. handling and looks from most everyone. than this is the right bike. Keep in mind that this is not a modern motorcycle. it will still need the care and feeding just like any typical vintage Honda. but it will certainly be a bike that will take your breath away when you get on and ride it.

Like all bikes that I have built this bike is meant to be ridden. I currently have done 200 miles in a day on this bike and for an old guy I didn’t feel too bad when I got off. It is set up as a solo rider. Without a complete seat modification it will need to stay that way. Rear foot peg mounts are still on the frame. I have tried to maintain a Honda parts theme for the bike. so all replacement parts are readily available from Honda or third parts vendors. The goal was to build a bike that was better than the way it came from the factory but retain the vintage look and improve performance and handling and to maintain the structural integrity of the frame. In my opinion this was very successful.

All body and frame paint is new. although there is one small scratch in the gas tank lid. No idea how it got there. (See pictures) Everything works on this motorcycle and it is ready for a rider to take it down the highway. mountain roads or wherever you want the wheels to go.

As you can see there has been significant work done and many new and rebuilt parts to make this motorcycle as good as possible. reliable and as rideable as possible. Please take all of this into consideration when bidding on this uniquely beautiful 1976 CB750F motorcycle.

I have tried to the best that I can. to describe this motorcycle with a complete and honest description. This motorcycle is being sold “AS IS” with no warranty expressed or implied.
