1968 Husqvarna 360 Viking

During the second half of the 60's Husqvarna was making history in the US. The 360 Viking was winning races in American motocross as well as the grueling Baja 1000. Taking Husqvarna to new heights in competition included racing legends Torsten Hallman, alcolm Smith, unnar Nilsson, nd Rolf Tibblin. Hollywoodeven made its mark in Husqvarna'a success with movie star Steve McQueen and stuntman JN Roberts racing the 360 Viking.

The 360 Viking I have for sale was not running when I acquired it over twenty years ago. I have gone through the engine and replaced the main bearings; seals and gaskets; piston kit that includes the small end bearing and wrist pin. Other new engine componentsinclude the flywheel stub shaft; fiber clutch plates; spark plug wire; points and condenser.

Carburetor was completely disassembled and dipped in carburetor cleaner over night before being rinsed and blown out with compressed air. A leak down test was performed on the engine to insure that gaskets and seals were tight. The bike starts with 2or 3 kicks and pulls nicely through all the gears.

Other new things include air-filter element, agura grips, rive chain, hain guard, hain rub blocks on the frame and on the chain guard, ront and rear UnicrossMetzeler with newtubes. The old rusted fork tubes were replaced with some clean ones that are very nice and include new fork seals.

Rear fender is stock steel and the rear inner fender is stock aluminum although it has one 1" long crack and one 2" long crack that need to be tig welded.

Tank was de-rusted with Evapo-rust, ts super clean inside. One shallow dent exists on the right hand side below the gas cap. An experienced tank man will have no problem pushing this out. See photo.

The bike hasthe original leather covered rim locks and the original felt wheel seals that have received new felt.

The right side case has been repaired. Picture shows tig weld on the inside of the case, he repair is not visible from the outside.

The scrape marks on the frame underside are from a skid plate, here are no dents in the frame.

The kickstand was disassembled and cleaned, he two threaded fastener holes where cleaned out with a tap. The mechanism was greased and reassembled and now it works perfectly. You can also see in the photos that the surrounding frame is in very good condition.

Husqvarna is currently making a comeback in Supercross,AMA Pro Motocross, nd the European MXGP. Husqvarna brand awareness is growing not onlyfrom new bikesales and advertisements but also from the current Husqvarna ownership promoting the brand as a pioneer of motocross with European motocross roots dating back to the 50's.As awarenessin Husqvarna's competitive roots grows these older bikes will only become more valuableto collectors.

This bike is an excellent restoration candidate. Over the years I've seen restored 360 Vikingssell in excess of $9,000. This bike is not a motorsports novelty as much asits an investment. I would keep this bike if it wasn't fordeclining health but like everyone I've got to play the cards I've been dealt.
