Description

Up for auction is a 1971 Husqvarna, he last year of the 4 -speed oval case. See video at the end of the ad showing the bike running.

The prior owner had it in his shed for many years out of the weather ever since he stopped riding it. The bike was pretty much original when we got it so we decided to leave it that way and only do the important work; in other words this is not a full restoration, ut of course we got a little carried away and did a bit more work. Pretty typical for us once we get our hands on a Husqvarna.
As the bike did sit for a long time it was torn down and built back up. The engine was completely torn down, he trans inside was in very nice shape. It received all new seals and gaskets and new crankshaft bearings. Also installed new lower rod bearings. It is still the standard bore of 69.43 with the Mahle piston. Bore is in nice shape and in specs. So just a new ring was installed, ew Barnett Clutches were also installed. Clutch works perfectly. Additional new parts installed include:
Kick & Shift rubber
Number plates
Grips and all new grey cables
Carb bowl gasket and rubber tipped needle with stock setting
Rubber seal from air bell to carb
Air filter decal
Engine gaskets, eals, rank and rod bearings
Proper 520 chain 5/8 x 1/4
Rear sprocket
Mud flap
Magura kill switch
Wheel bearings
Frame in very nice shape, edia blasted and repainted. Fork tubes and legs also in very nice shape. Still has the factory aluminum fenders including the aluminum inner fender. Rims spin nice, see no cracks or flat spots. The rear has some rusty spokes. Still has the Trelleborg tires so we left them on. There is some weathering on the front. OK to ride or show bike but would recommend replacing if you want to race the bike.
Still has the original seat. Was surprised to see the tag still on the seat pan; we put some clear tape on it to help protect it.
Most all of the hardware is the factory Bufo bolts and nuts. The air bell is in very nice shape with the factory heavy aluminum air filter cover. Brake shoes in nice shape and brakes work fine. Tank was left as is, t is clean on the inside, ice factory petcock no leaks. Nice Girling shocks, as the nice Husky grenade silencer on it as well. Part of the kick stand was missing, he hard to find part, he internal spring mechanism was still in the frame and in good shape. So we fabricated the leg of the kick stand from another old Husky kick stand. Works very nicely. Can see the kick starter stop on the side case was repaired at one time, nicely done job. Still has the Magura controls and stock foot pegs. The Femsa ignition and coil both in nice shape and produce healthy spark resulting in an easy start and strong running bike. Nice factory chrome chain guard with new chain rubbing block on frame. Bars are straight. The bore is 69.43 so it can be re-bored many more times if needed.
Bike starts easy when cold with a tickle from the Bing than one kick. Also one kick when warm. Bike has test time on it only. eBay requires we put in mileage but of course a bike of this age exact mileage is unknown. Unfortunately eBay has yet to figure out that these old bikes never had a title and so they do not come with titles now either. We can provide a bill of sale to the winner.
The bike is very responsive and quick, omes on strong and pulls hard. All gears shift up and down very nicely, f course new clutch works as it should. A really nice old vintage machine for your collection or to vintage race.
