Description

Up for auction is a 1980 Kawasaki KZ1000 LTD in black with smoke gray accents. This bike is an exceptional example of the cool superbike era of the late 1970s and early 80’s when big motor Japanese bikes were FAST yet still comfortable. As most of you already know, he Kawasaki 1000cc bikes of this era were so good, egarding both performance and reliability, hat they’ve been used as anything from hopped up drag bikes, o weekend cruisers, o full duty police bikes.

This bike runs awesome with only 18,840 original miles. Everything works, problems. It underwent a full restoration 5K miles ago which consisted of full paint including the engine, he addition of 29mm Mikuni smooth bore carburetors, igh flow air filters, full Kerker exhaust with Kerker headers, custom shaved leather seat, enders from a 1973 (which improve the look), ebuilt rear shocks, GK plugs, GK coils/wires, luids, attery, askets, nd lots of fresh chrome (valve covers, lutch cover, tator cover, hain guard, ngine covers, tc). I’m also including (have not installed) an instrument cluster from a 1978 because earlier bikes had a speedo that went up to 160 mph as opposed to the current one that stops at 80 mph (HA!).

This bike needs nothing, t runs great, t handles great, t’s very comfortable, nd it’s super fast. As you can see from the pictures, his bike has been cosmetically updated. By replacing the bulky parts that you see on so many of these bikes like the seat, owl, enders, tc and replacing them with sleeker more stylish alternatives, he final result is a beautiful bike that takes it’s inspiration from drag bikes and caf? bikes alike. This bike is sure to stand out wherever you take it.

Usually after the good, here is the bad . . . fortunately for you there is hardly anything to say. There are no back stories with this bike. It didn’t sit for years, t wasn’t found in a barn, t never had any rust, t doesn’t have any unseen or undisclosed imperfections, t wasn’t put together from multiple bikes, tc.

As a matter of full disclosure; there are a couple small rock chips on the front fender that have been touched up. I believe the rear rotor might be slightly warped as I can hear a slight catch noise as I approach a stop. The tires are Avon Venom tires and do have some slight dry rot from lack of use. They’ll get you where you want to go but it would be a good idea to get some new rubber on there. I don’t have the original manual or the tool kit. That’s it! All in all, t’s a beautiful bike, uns awesome and simply needs a new home where it will be ridden and fully appreciated. Fly in and ride it home. What you see is what you get, esides the additional cluster, here are no other parts included.
