KTM 640 Adventure

KTM 640 Adventure. 1999.

This particular bike is a Deacon Dakar Rally Replica and is serial number 2 and was supplied by JD Racing. Saltash. For those of you who know your Dakar Rally history you will know John Deacon as the highest finishing British rider. finishing overall sixth in 1999.  Sadly he subsequently died in 2001 in another rally.

This bike has only had two former keepers. the first keeper had it from new until 2013. Most of this time it was kept in storage. It is in excellent condition for it's age. The bike has only done about 7000 miles. However the milometer does not show this as whilst the bike was in storage the lithium battery in the digital trip computer failed. I have since replaced this but it had reset to zero. The bike has a carbon fibre bash plate with integral tool storage and water carrier. this was regulation for Dakar bikes of the time (see photos). The bike has just been serviced and MOTed. It also comes with full workshop manual. owners hand book and two keys. New rear tyre fitted about two hundred miles ago and the front has plenty of tread on it.

The bad bits: There is a small tear in the seat cover. see photo. There is some corrosion of the spokes but I believe that this is common to KTMs of this age. The Speedo is not calibrated correctly. I have not been able to set the trip computer to input the correct tyre sizes (there are full instructions in the manual).  

I am selling as I am just not using it enough to justify having it.
