My superb Original British registered Lambretta SX Rayspeed 250 is sadly for sale. It was first registered new in the UK in 1967 (I have the original green log book) and is an original MOD scooter from the 60s. The engine is a 250 Rayspeed conversion. which sadly was in a pretty poor condition when I got it and it had also had a replacement casing from a Jet SX 200 . I have completely refurbished the engine. including a new 250 barrel and piston assembly. purchased directly from Rayspeed. It has a new crank etc. and everything has been repaired or replaced to bring it back into superb condition - WHEN THE ENGINE IS FULLY RUN-IN - IT WILL BE QUICK. The clutch is new as are the electrics - but to original spec. The brakes have been re-lined and every cable on the bike is new. BUT DON'T FORGET THE 250 RAYSPEED ENGINE IS OFF A GENUINE SX 200. BUT THE CASING IS A REPLACEMENT SX 200 CASING - there is a tell tale Jet (Spanish SX200) electrical pick up for the headset light on the back of the engine. which needs close scrutiny - otherwise you wouldn't know- ALTHOUGH THE NUMBER STAMPED ON THE ENGINE MATCHES THE ORIGINAL LOGBOOK - SO ALL THE NUMBERS MATCH. ******************* The side panels are original as is all of the bodywork - but it is all straight and has been totally refurbished and repainted in two tone. champagne gold over white. This colour scheme was chosen to match the colour of the ORIGINAL KEN COBBING RACING SEAT. which came with the bike and is in great condition. (I have been offered ?750 just for the seat. but it goes with the bike - so don't ask me to sell it separately) *****THE FRONT RACK. LIGHTS. MIRRORS AND REAR RACK ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE. BUT THE FLY SCREEN IS INCLUDED**** The paperwork is all there and is absolutely correct. the numbers all match and bike has been put back on the road with its original 1967 number. through the British Lambretta archive. The bike had a new MOT in August and of course is road tax exempt. I took the scooter to the Goodwood revival this year and it was very much admired by the other scooter enthusiasts and public alike. It hasn't been out since then and I am having to sell it and my sports car in order to buy a house - oh well - such is life. I have spent a not-so-small fortune getting this scooter up to near perfect condition and it has been the subject of a really sensitive and comprehensive rebuild. to keep it all as original as possible. every original part that could be refurbished and re-used was re-used except for things like cables. brake pads etc. . which you would expect to be renewed anyway - so it will NOT be cheap. I expect a fair price for this superb and ULTRA RARE example of the iconic Lambretta SX250 Rayspeed conversion - try and find another!!! ********* THE SCOOTER WAS SOLD - BUT BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALISE IT HAD A SUBSTITUTE ENGINE CASING - ALTHOUGH THE NUMBERS DO MATCH. I GAVE THE GUY HIS MONEY BACK AND THE BIKE IS NOW FOR SALE AGAIN WITH A ?2. 00 REDUCTION IN THE PRICE *******
