Description

Genuine M2 Le Mans (with correct VE engine/frame no. ). converted to MK1 spec. Le mans MK1 tank (new locking filler cap fitted). fairing and instruments. Original seat (rare) in very good condition with original seat strap (often missing). Original pattern silencers (Stein Dinse. Germany). Tank. side panels and mudguard resprayed to a very good standard a few years ago. With 43. 00 miles on the clock. this machine is in good overall condition for its age and runs well. Please note that this bike is not mint or concours. but a good. genuine unmolested original with the odd chip/scuff here and there. Carbs have recently been cleaned and serviced with replacement rubber seals from genuine Del Orto kit. Comes with some spares (plenty of receipts available): a new set of points. MK1 ignition barrel and key. cables. remainder of braided brake pipes kit (buyer to fit if required) - front side already fitted. 90% of LM2 fairing and tank which would probably benefit from a respray. a spare set of downpipes. crossover section and silencers which are not in the best of condition. but may be useable. 2 brand new BT 45 tyres fitted. Fairly new battery plus spare. Le Mans 1000 side stand fitted for easier use. This bike still retains the original fitting. but a design fault proved that this model had a habit of sometimes keeling over when left on the side stand. I think later models had a double spring version fitted to rectify this. Recent engine. drive and gearbox oil. sump gasket and filter change.  Original linked braking system in place.  Recent new right side valve guide and piston rings replacement. I realise that I perhaps should have done both at the same time. but pressure testing on the other cylinder proved good. This may be something for the future owner to consider. but for now the bike runs well enough. Comes with a years MOT. Everything works except two of the idiot lights (neutral and generator). Could be a simple bulb change to fix this. but I have never bothered to look. Seems to pass MOT each time without them. I am reluctantly selling this bike to fund another project and also old age is creeping in and due to a semi racing position. my knees are starting show the strain on long distances. I probably only drove the bike about two or three times last year. Although this will go to the highest bidder. I would genuinely like it to end up with an enthusiast who will cherish and look after it. If you are considering bidding. having never ridden or owned an Italian bike of this era. I would advise caution. This is the 3rd LM I have owned but it took a while to get used to the adjustment. having just jumped off a 400 4 Honda. I feel as if I am trying to put potential buyers off. but what I am trying to say is. that if you are the successful bidder please don't come back to me after a few days or weeks saying its not as you expected. There will be NO refunds. I am not out to deceive anybody and would simply like to make all potential bidders aware that this bike is not a precision piece of japanese engineering. It does have its odd quirks. but in my opinion. I would consider it to be one of the best bikes I have ever owned and one of the best looking bikes around. Prices for good original machines like this are steadily rising year on year. so I think this would make a good investment for the right person. This machine is advertised elsewhere. so may have to pull it before auction ends. Viewing welcome and recommended before bidding. Bike is located about 12 miles south of Edinburgh. I will try and answer any questions as honestly as possible. but please. no time wasters or tyre kickers. Cash on collection. otherwise. all funds must be fully cleared before bike is removed. No test drives. No PX or Swops considered. so please do not ask. UPDATE 1st July. In the interest of fairness and accuracy. I checked the mileage today and the reading is 43. 03. I also forgot to mention that there is a new set of petrol taps on the bike. UPDATE 21st July. I forgot to include my phone number if anyone wishes to organise viewing or ask any questions direct. (01875 830 222). If I am not in. please leave a message with your contact details and I will get back to you asap. Open to sensible offers. Gary
