Moto Guzzi Airone Sport 250A 60 year old gem Affectionately known as a “Bacon Slicer “ due to the exposed open flywheel. the little brother of the 500cc Falcon. which Guzzi produced on the banks of Lake Como in Italy from 1939 to 1957 mainly for the Second World War effort.  In the early 1950’s the lightweight 250 Airone (Heron) sport was one of the most expensive motorbikes on the market costing slightly more that a Triumph Speed Twin and over 50-% more than a BSA 250 of it’s day. The particular machine being one of the last ever produced hasJust been imported into England. The Subject of a total rebuild mechanically and full restoration by the Marque Specialist and put into a private collection. only occasionally seeing the light of day. - This Airone Sport was manufactured in November 1954 and first licensed in Italy in 1955. According to the registration book. it was first registered in Genoa with the plate GE-38843. before being licensed slightly further down the west coast in the province of La Spezia in July 1969 with the plate SP-29220. - In March 2007 it was purchased by an American Gentleman for use at his home near Lake Garda. as he had owned one during his time at university. He promptly commissioned its restoration by a company in Ceva. Italy. and we were informed that the engine was rebuilt during the restoration. Even the coach lines have been hand painted by a specialist coach painter. a true work of art itself. - Having been used less than intended the Gentleman contacted us and we purchased it from him. - When we rode it a few miles to take the photographs it performed very well with all of the gears working correctly. Points worthy of mention. the heel and toe gearshift the rear suspension with manual dampening exposed kick start quadrant and of course its very low centre of gravity due to the horizontal motor. To sum up. this is a 1954 Moto Guzzi Airone Sport 250.  the  genuine true Sport model in beautiful condition.  All the special Sport parts. naturally. this is 100% a genuine bike. Starts first kick and rides perfectly. Although Airone were not supplied new with a speedo. this bike has a speedo. comes with all original Italian registration and documents. Nova cert for registration and a new mot to facilitate UK registration if required. It has to be said this is the best Airone that we have ever come across and will make not only a very useable classic that will be welcomed at ant Bike show or Classic Ride-Out but also a bomb proof investment that will only be going one way in value and that is UP !!To sum this Guzzi up in one word  - gorgeousAn unrepeatable Classic bike plus an Appreciating Investment& Great value at £9995. 00VIEWING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY PLEASE.
