Description

Norton Commando 850

This bike was a local estate find and has been sitting for around 5 years according to the previous owner. The bike does not have matching numbers, ut is a great opportunity to own a classic Norton Commando. The frame has the original VIN plate and is a 1970 Commando frame. The engine and gearbox have matching numbers and are 1973 850 Commando. The title matches the frame as it should and is a clean and clear TN title in my name.

The bike has not been started in several years and I am overwhelmed by projects at the moment, o I'm going to let this one go. This bike appears to have been refreshed along the way and despite its recent years of neglect, as obviously been loved in the past. Although the bike was parked in a very dry garage, t is TN and there is rust here and there, notably on the hardware and the fork tubes. The exhaust head pipes are rather crusty and the front brake is non-operational. The engine kicks over nicely and feels good and the bike goes through the gears. The speedometer lens is cracked and water did get in there and fog the lens when I was cleaning the bike. The brake light switch is incorrect and most of the control rubber is mismatched. The wiring is intact and appears to be in very good condition overall. The headlight bucket has some patina, ut is straight. The bike has a center stand and side-stand, ne of the bolts is missing from the center stand. The rear fender has been repaired and has some stainless welds that could stand to be cleaned up a bit. Also, here are two broken fins on the front of the cylinder head. The gas tank and side covers are both metal and in really great shape. The tank was about 3/4 full when I purchased the bike and has some rust inside, ut it is minor. The silver lines and lettering were apparently painted from stencils and look great from 10 feet away, ut close inspection reveals soft edges on some of the lettering.

I'm sure that description sounds rather negative, ut I do my best to accurately describe my listings, ncluding all known flaws. I have been burned by vague descriptions on items I have purchased in the past, nd strive to identify every flaw or defectin the description and in photos if possible. I'm sure the winning bidder will be very pleased with this bike and will have no unexpected surprises. Thereis value ininformationcompared to hoping for the best with limited photos and descriptions.

This is a great Norton project bike that should be a fantastic classic ride without too much effort or expense. Please review the numerous photos as they show the true condition of this classic. This is a great opportunity to own a vintage Commando at a much lower price point.

This bike does have a fresh and clean TN title in my name.

A non-refundable Paypal deposit of $200 is due within 12 hours of the auction end unless other arrangements have been made. Payment balance is due within 5 days.

Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. I'm happy to help load the bike and work on logistics with a shipper/delivery company, ut contracting the shipment, eceiving bids, tc. will be the responsibility of the winning bidder.

It should go without saying, ut please don't bid if you don't intend to buy this motorcycle. I know it's cool, ut if you don't have the dough, lease look, ut don't click that button.

Local inspection would be welcomed as is local pick-up. I am located in Middle TN 20 miles northwest of Cookeville: 1.5 hrs. from Nashville, hrs. from Knoxville, nd 2.25 hrs. from Chattanooga.
