Description

They say that a racing motorcycle becomes non stock after the first race and keeps changing. No racer is ever as issued from the factory if it really races. So too is this MANX. the most legendary of all racing. British bikes produced by a company known for its racing and victories. So innovative was the MANX that DUCATI?ˆ™?ˆ™s Desmo OHC system was a copy of the NORTON bevel-drive system. DUCATI?ˆ™s Doctor ?ˆ?T?ˆ? greatly admired Joe Craig. the racing chief of NORTON and copied his design. So this 1954 NORTON MANX uses a genuine. M 30 (code for 500cc MANX Norton) frame and a genuine late 50?ˆ™s engine. Best of all. the crankcases are international (street version) cases which allow the use of a generator to power lights and a horn to allow it to pass for legal on the street. This is no lame street bike but a real racer for the streets. Know what it felt like for famous riders who won the Isle of Man on Manx Nortons without the travel to the Island. T The clutch is completely Manx. Fenders and front forks are original Manx while the gas and oil tanks are alloy. The gas tank has been coated internally to guard against ethanol fuels. Paint on all items is perfect. The swing arm as fitted to the 54 featherbed frame is also Manx. Both front and rear brakes are genuine Manx items that have been powder coated black. Wheel rims are genuine Borrani nineteen inch WM2 1. 85 front and WM3 2. 5 nineteen inch rear with stainless steel spokes. Tires are Avon Roadrunners. While there is no speedometer there is a large chronemetric tack. The frame is completely wired to allow for a working tail/brake light and headlight. however they are six volt items. Headlight included in purchase. There is also a working horn as well as a high/low dip switch on the handlebar. Most of the fasteners are either stainless steel or chrome. A side stand has been added for convince . The carburetor is a 10TT9 and is new old stock. Brakes have new shoes front and rear. This is a first class build with no expense spared. There is less than thirty miles on the complete build and those miles were put on this last October at the North Texas Norton Owners Club Rally where it won the ?ˆ?Rolling Concours?ˆ? event as well as placed first in the ?ˆ?Competition?ˆ? class. As this is a fresh build the bike is offered with a bill of sale only.
