BSA A65 THUNDERBOLT 1968 V5

For sale is my 1968 BSA A65 Thunderbolt which has given me much pleasure but other interests have now prompted me to offer it for sale. The machine has been unridden since 2010 which was the year it was last MOT'd. I have recently re-commissioned the bike into running order which only required a strip down of the carburettor to remove gum from the fuel which had evaporated in the float chamber. She starts readily and runs nicely but would benefit from a road run and carburettor re-tune.

I believe overall mechanical condition to be good and in the years I have owned the bike the cylinders have been rehoned. new pistons. rings and valves fitted. The only work that needed doing to the frame was replacing the fork stanchions. bushes and seals. Rear springs and shrouds have been re-chromed.

As far as the 'glossy bits' are concerned the bike could easily be brought up to good show standards with a respray. repair to some small cracks in the seat. rear wheel re-chrome and a new or re-chromed silencer which fell foul of a boiled battery.

The asking price for this good example of one of the less common A65s is nominally £3000 and includes some small spare parts such gaskets. the original straight bars and original speedo holder which was replaced with the cast alloy version that houses both speedo and tacho. Also available is the original headlight reflector and glass which was exchanged for the more powerful sealed beam unit.
