1948 AJS M18 MODEL 18 MATCHLESS 500 SINGLE BOBBER

 Up for auction is a very cool. vintage 1948 AJS M18 500cc single thumper!  Clear title in hand.   Iron head. factory rigid frame Bobber!! Recently tuned up and running strong.   Fresh fluids. spark plug. timing and valves set.   This beauty is set up "flat track" style. no headlight. no tail light. knobby tires.   I have the original generator. not pictured. and i will include it with the bike so you can run lights if desired.   The picture with my hand in it. shows where the generator mounts to the bike.   Magneto cleaned.   The bike had a Spanish Amal carb on it and it didn't work well so it was replaced with a concentric Amal.   Gas tank is clean inside. no holes.   Rear fender and muffler appear to be aftermarket.   Original 66 year old knee grips in good condition!!  This bike has looked like this for the last 40 years at least!  I love that someone made it their own way. i have not cleaned it at all.   Its almost 67 years old and i love that it looks it.    The bike runs and rides good. but the brakes will need some attention. kinda old and slow to stop.   :)  Oil return works as it should when the bike is running.    Right side shift. 1 up. 3 down shifting.    Clutch is in good working order.   The AJS M18 and the Matchless G80 are basically the same bikes mechanically with different logos on the cases.   These companies worked together throughout their history sharing the same engines. etc.    I hate to sell her but i have 2 young babies to care for now!  :)    I can help with shipping domestically and internationally but REMEMBER.
