I have for sale this nice little barn fresh project. Just seen the light of day after at least 35 years in a barn near Bourges in central France.
Wonder are one of the rarer motorcycle manufacturers in France. They were part of the more well known Ravat company and were produced from 1900 until 1954 in St Etienne near Lyon but never in large numbers. They share many common parts between the two makes. This bike date from 1952 just a couple of years before production ceased.
It is just about complete. The only obvious parts missing are the speedo but luckily this is a standard part used by Peugeots and automotos of the period and are easy to find in France and the front brake lever. The metalwork is in very sound condition with just a little surface rust. The paintwork is also original and looks nice if you want an oily rag look. The engine turns over fine with excellent compression and sounds fine.
The saddle is not the original but could be adapted to fit. The nice rear seat is not attached but the small box of parts contains the mounting for the seat. It also contains the fork shrouds but one of these needs some repair.
This is a project bike and as such will need plenty of work. However it will make a nice winter project and when done will be a very unusual bike in the UK. The tyres have had it and all the consumables will require replacing. This includes the brake and clutch cables. Due to this I have not been able to confirm if the clutch works.
There is no log book with the bike but I will supply a French certificate de cession to prove that the bike has come from within the EU and as such there is no duty or VAT to pay. The number plates are readable and the manufacturers plaque on the headstock is nice and clear and shows the frame number and year of manufacture. It also shows the model which is a B45GL.
Please note that this bike is at present in the town of Chabris in the Indre department central France. For a price of £50 I can arrange delivery to the Worthing area a couple of days after the end of the auction. For the same price you can collect the bike from the Ardingly auto jumble on the 12th of October in West Sussex. It can also be collected from the Kempton Park auto jumble on October 25th. Other delivery destinations are available but please email me for a price. You are also welcome to come to France to collect the bike and I will offer the winning bidder one nights free accommodation in our B&B.
Payment is by cleared sterling cheque if you are having the bike delivered or by cash on collection if you are coming to collect it.
Any questions please email me or call from the UK on 00 33 254051245.
