RELUCTANT SALE OF MY LOVELY NORTON 961. ONLY SELLING AS I HAVE TOO MANY BIKES AND LOSING ONE OF MY GARAGES. I HAVE OWNED THE BIKE FROM NEW AND IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SPORT VERSIONS DELIVERED. I HAVE COVERED 6. 00 MILES IN THE THREE AND HALF YEARS AND IT'S JUST HAD A FULL SERVICE COMPLETED AT THE NORTON DONINGTON HEADQUARTERS.
I HAVE HAD NEW PIRELLI ROSSO CORSA TYRES FITTED WHICH IN MY OPINION HAVE IMPROVED THE ALREADY SUPERB HANDLING. ALL UPDATES HAVE BEEN DONE AT THE FACTORY AND THE BIKE IS EXCEPTIONAL A REAL JOY TO RIDE. IT IS EXTREMELY RELIABLE AS YOU WOULD EXPECT AND COMFORTABLE EVEN ON 300 MILE PLUS RUNS. I GET AROUND 50MPG AVERAGE WHICH INCLUDES 80-90MPH CRUISING. IT IS EASILY CAPABLE OF 120MPH AND MORE WHERE PERMISSABLE. THE ACCELERATION IS EXCELLENT AND IS OBVIOUSLY A LOT QUICKER THAN MY OLD MK3 COMMANDO AND A LOT FASTER THROUGH THE BENDS.
THE ENGINE IS SMOOTH FOR A BIG TWIN AND DOES NOT USE MUCH OIL BETWEEN SERVICES(IV'E ONLY NEEDED TO TOP UP ONCE IN 5. 00 MILES) I HAVE THE SPORT LESS RESTRICTIVE SILENCERS FITTED AND FULL DE-CAT EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH GIVES AT LEAST 5 BHP GAIN. I HAVE THE STANDARD PIPE AND SILENCERS WHICH WILL GO WITH THE BIKE.
THIS IS A SUPERB BIKE AND ALWAYS DRAWS A CROWD WHEREVER I STOP. I HAVE NEVER USED IT IN THE WET OR IN WINTER SALTED ROADS
IT'S LIKE HAVING A CLASSIC BIKE BUT WITH RELIABILITY AND NO OIL LEAKS. PLUS GREAT HANDLING AND BRAKES UP TO MODERN STANDARDS.

These are still on at least 6 months delivery at the moment so still rare to see. Mine has been well run in and tested with new tyres fitted. It rides superb and has had all the updates available fitted over the period I've owned it. These bikes get better with every mile so mine has almost 6000 so performs superb. As it is one of the first batch built there are a few things which I think are better than the later bikes the clutch and brake master cylinders are one piece incorporated in the lever mechanism for example. rather than the later plastic items. The 961 is a great bike to ride and own. I never tire of looking at it plus it is a brilliant investment! I have it advertised locally so may remove before end of auction.
I also have my T140ES Bonny for sale in excellent condition this is one of the last Meriden Triumphs with electric starter(which works!) please see my other auction. I must sell these two bikes as I no longer have the space. I will still be keeping my old MK3 Commando and a couple of modern bikes though.
