1983 Suzuki GS1100 GL

    Up for auction from Studebaker Central is this beautiful 1983 Suzuki GS1100 GL. This bike is a great example of the cult of the GS and is ready to go anywhere. It was bought new in California and stayed there until three years ago when I bought it. The woman that owned it said that the 29. 00 miles on the bike were all her cruising the California hills. calmly of course.

    This woman is an artist and it seems that she paints roses on everything. hence the tank painting.

    The original owner lowered the seat by one and one-half inches. The seat was redone very nicely and allowed the rider to sit flat-footed at stop.

    The bike is in excellent condition but it did sit for a bit before I got it. I removed and cleaned the carbs and the tank. I replaced the stator and the rectifier/regulator because the charge readings were low. I replaced the plugs and I added a MotoBatt battery. I replaced the tach because the original was screaming. I added the little spitfire windshield. I put a new front tire on the bike. The rear tire had already been replaced. The bike could use front fork seals. The original tool kit is still in its holder.

     It is very nice looking. The original paint. chrome and plastic is all pretty good with some wear here and there. The plastic cover between the two gauges shows a bit of sun warp. Overall this is a great looking machine.

    This GS1100 is a great runner that I would not hesitate to ride any distance.

    This bike is a five-speed. shaft-driven motorcycle. Maximum horsepower is 94 with 62 foot pounds of torque.  They are very fast and not recommended for beginners.
