Here we have a super rare Suzuki A50 motorbike. After some research it would appear to be one of the first Suzuki bikes ever sold in France. I have the original French log book dating from 1964 and it still bears the name of the supplying dealer in Paris. The French number plate is on the bike and matches the log book. The last owner told me it was one of only four sold by the dealer and at the time he understood that this dealer was the only Suzuki dealer in Paris so probably pretty rare. You would need to do more research to confirm some of this history.
The bike itself is totally complete but obviously a restoration project. It has just emerged from many years in a barn to the west of Paris near Eurodisney. The man I bought it from did use the bike back in the early seventies. Apparently it was running when stored and it still turns over fine with compression but no attempt has been made to start it. The reason it was taken off the road was that the mountings for the handlebars cracked. If you look carefully at photo 1 you can see the crack.
The seat is original in red vinyl but will need repairing. I do have the plastic leg guards that were fitted as an option from new but I prefer the look without them. They will be given to the winning bidder. Overall the condition is tatty but sound with no serious rust. The petrol tank is not dented and all metalwork is present.
This is a rare chance to own one of the first Suzukis ever imported into Europe. Not sure if this model was ever imported into the UK. A must for any early Suzuki collector. The auction will run to the end so please don't ask for a buy it now price.
