Suzuki RM125 J '88 Model, Evo, Spares or Repairs, Project

Suzuki RM125 J. 1988 Model. Eligible for ‘Evo’ class competition

Being offer for sale by auction as ‘Spares or Repairs’ project bike

Non-runner. partially dismantled

Would make a lovely restoration bike

I will describe the bike as precise as I can in the following paragraphs. /p>

Frame and Swingarm

Frame is straight. has been re-sprayed black at some point. should be that classic blue colour. Surface rust in places but solid. no rot.

Frame number original and intact

Footrests seen better days. bent and worn. but are complete and original

Swingarm is straight and solid. usual wear and tear associated with off-road and competition use.

Play in bearings and linkages. would recommend replacement.

*New ‘All Balls’ swingarm bearing and bush kit supplied with sale.

Suspension & Steering

Forks are straight. working fine. no oil leaks. stanchions are in good order. no pitting to chrome.

Play in headstock bearings. yolks solid with usual wear and tear associated with off road and competition use.

Shock operational although a bit tired. rusting to spring. could do with refurbishing.

Wheels/Tyres/Chain and Sprockets

Front wheel – alloy rim. stock hub. steel spokes (showing surface rust). Wheel is straight. no buckles or dings. bearings feel ok. although would recommend replacement.

Rear wheel – alloy rim. steel spokes (showing surface rust). stock hub. Wheel is straight. no buckles or dings. bearings feel ok. although would recommend replacement.

Both front and rear tyres although still have plenty of tread they have had the edge knocked off the knobbles and wouldn’t be competitive anymore. would be fine for field bike use.

Rear sprocket seen better days and will require replacement. no front sprocket or chain.

Brakes

Front brake complete and intact. but not currently operational. will require an overhaul.

Disc ok. pads badly worn. hose very tired. ball on lever broken off.

Rear brake complete and intact. but not currently operational. will require an overhaul.

Disc ok. pads badly worn. hose very tired. pedal intact.

Bars & Controls

Renthal handlebars. left grip missing. clutch lever ball end broken off.

Gunner gasser throttle. operational. cable supplied with box of parts. plastic top cover missing.

Tank. Seat. Panels and Fenders

Tank is solid. no leaks. fuel tap operational. no leaks either

Seat base is solid. foam is intact with a small tear. cover missing.

Front fender. rear fender. side panels. radiator shrouds are all intact. no cracks. plastic is fading in places.

Electrics

All electrics and wiring intact and present.

Engine

Airbox complete. solid and intact.

Carburettor- Mikuni TM flatslide. in good order.

Radiators are in good order. no leaks holds coolant fine.

Pro-Circuit expansion chamber. solid. no rot. Dented in usual places.

Stock silencer in fair condition.

Engine had been stripped and is currently loosely re-assembled.

Not 100% a few minor parts not present. currently not running.

Will require a full overhaul and rebuild.

Conclusion

Overall a good honest. rare machine that is largely complete. will make a lovely project bike.
