This original un-restored machine is 100% as it was when delivered from the factory 41 years ago with the exception of the oil pressure warning light being replaced by an actual oil pressure gauge. It is one(1) of four(4) bikes for sale from my collection, nd is currently part of a two(2) month exhibit ending 9/5/16 at The Stony Brook Museum Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook, ew York. I have owned and maintained this bike for 15 years, aving put about 10,000 trouble free miles on it during that time.
1975 was the only full year in which this 5-speed triple cylinder 750 with triple amal carbs and electric start was produced, and it came equipped with Girling shocks and Lockheed hydraulic disc brakes on the front and the back. All the prior yearsproduction Tridents (T-150's) were kick-start only, nd the cylinders were angled forward 15 degrees in order that the automotive type electric starter could be fitted into the T-160.In addition to the re-positioning of the engine, nbsp;the T-160 came with a new framejust like the production racer "Slippery Sam", he most famous Trident of all that notched up three consecutive Production TT wins in '72, 73, nd '74, nd many other racing honors. The swinging arm is longer, nd the front forks are shorter, ll to get the weight lower and further forward. This bike handles in the true British tradition.
With a top speed of approximately 126mph, t was15 mph faster than it's contemporary the 850 Commando whentested by BIKE magazine in 1975, nd was actually quicker than the Kawasaki H2.It was stated in that road test report that "If the Trident had been like this seven years ago, here wouldn't be half as many Honda fours on the road now"
Approximately 7000 T-160's were built in total, nd it has been called the original Triumph firm's best, and arguablyonly, rue superbike.
This machine has a clean New York Title and comes withthe original 76 page Owner's Handbook, actory Workshop Manual and Parts Catalog in Factory hard-cover3-ring binder, and an indoor full cover.
Please note that the engine cover 'slot-head' bolts, nd certain hex head bolts have been replaced withstainless steel allen bolts as seen in pictures.
