Description

I was lucky enough to ride this Triumph Thunderbird in my younger days when I enjoyed many miles upon it.   The first photo shows when it was all up together. A noisey bottom end led to my stripping the engine down to change the bottom end bearing.   However. they were never actually changed.   The correct new ones are still in their packet and make up a part of the lot.   The Barrells also need to be relined as they are now on the edge of their tolerances.   Family life determined different priorities. and I was never able to complete the rebuild for the 2nd time.   For the last 18 years the bike has been in storage.   After much sole searching. I have come to realise that someone with more time on their hands and a workshop. would be better placed to bring this beauty back to life. The gear box. still in the frame is one of Triumph's 'slick shift' type. that enabled the driver to change up without depressing the clutch.   The head is a five fin head which was very effective at cooling. I have not assessed each individual part to confirm its condition and the project is very much sold as seen here.   I am very happy to provide more images or enable someone to inspect.   I live in South Bristol. Please feel free to ask questions and contact me via ebay.

This makes this the 680th Triumph 650 to leave the factory in 1959.   The vehicle was apparently registered in Oct 1958. hence previous error.   Apparently this was common practice by Triumph.   I have the V5 and the manual. I am very happy to provide more images or enable someone to inspect.   I live in South Bristol. Please feel free to ask questions and contact me via ebay.
