1965 Triumph TR6SC Motorcycle // Vintage, Classic and RARE // 650cc DESERT SLED

This rare bike is nearly impossible to find. especially in this condition!  There were only 346 built in 1965 and even fewer have survived over the years.  The "SC" in TR6SC stands for SPECIAL COMPETITION and is known by many as the "DESERT SLED".  It was specially built. at the Triumph factory in England. for desert racing in California.  This exact year. make and model was the ride of choice for Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins. who won many races on this style bike. I have owned this bike for 47 years after buying it in 1967 from actor. James Brolin. He purchased it brand new in 1965 from Bud Ekins in Sherman Oaks. CA.  Before leaving the showroom floor. Bud made it street legal for him with the addition of lights and mufflers.  After taking ownership in 1967. I continued to have the bike serviced and tuned at Buds' shop. The bike had just 1200 miles when I took ownership.  The odometer now reads 15272 but stopped working some time ago.  My best estimate is that it currently has 25000 miles on it.  The bike's mostly been ridden on the street and has NEVER. EVER. been raced --- neither on or off the road.  It has never been in an accident. big or small. nor has it ever been layed down.  And. when not in use. the bike has always been covered and garaged.  It also has up to date California registration and clean title.  This bike has been lovingly pampered throughout the years.  The engine and frame both have MATCHING NUMBERS.  All systems. including the engine. run very strong and have never required any major work.  It fires up on first kick. every time.  The only minor repair needed is an adjustment to the shifter/shifting fork as occasionally it might slip out of 4th -- not very often though.  It always goes back into 4th without a problem.  Again. this is not a frequent issue. As for appearance. the exterior and patina is very good and the chrome looks great.  The tank does have a very minor ding about the size of a pea. but the paint. knee pads. badges and chrome parcel rack are in very good condition.  The tires are BRAND NEW Dunlop K70's which look great and maintain the bikes vintage looks.  Also. the original ET (electronic transfer) is still in place and functions as it should.  Although the bike has not been restored. it is very close to ORIGINAL FACTORY CONDITION.  Only a few. easy to locate. NOS (new old stock) accessories is all that is needed to bring the bike back to original.  These items are relatively inexpensive and are readily available.  This is a FAST. FUN. RELIABLE bike. Due to the value and irreplaceable parts. as well as insurance reasons. no rides will be allowed.  I will start up the bike for anyone interested.  I WILL NOT allow buyers/ potential buyers to ride this vehicle until ENTIRE TRANSACTION is completed with final payment. proper documentation completely filled out and title is transferred.

At Close of Auction

The successful "winning" bidder must contact me within 24 hours after the auction has ended to verify purchase and make arrangements to complete the transaction.

Full payment must be received within 7 days after the end of the auction.  Payment must be CASH ONLY.  If funds are not received. and an alternate arrangement has not been made. the vehicle can and will be made available to other potential buyers on a first-come. first-serve basis.
