The R5---350 is one of the most important historic models ever produced. Although its predecessor the 350D is more well known today. the R5 was the original "giant-killer". According to the article in Motorcyclist Magazine in June 2002. nbsp; Don Emde "made history by winning the Daytona 200 aboard a 'little' Yamaha 350". According to the article in Motorcyclist. in 1972 Emde raced "to victory aboard the 350cc Yamaha TR3--basically a production racing version of the R5 street bike (later the RD350). The win laid the groundwork for a 13 year domination at Daytona by Yamaha. " This 1972 original Yamaha R5 with matching numbers. runs. drives and shifts well. Very clean. solid. original except front fender and tires. Needs spring-time tune-up and oils. has minor petcock leak. Chrome. metal and spokes are very clean. Paint has excellent patina and small dents and dings in tank. Seat looks great. but little tears at bottom and part of it has been resewn. Front tire looks very good. back looks good but has cracks. Bike ran last summer and inside gas tank is clean. Clear title with matching numbers. Located in northeast Wisconsin. but can deliver to eastern WI from Rhinelander to Kenosha.
