Wow ! This is a rare and highly collectable little street scrambler from the 60's. This 180 was the little brother of the 305 big bear scrambler. Oil injected twin cylinder two stroke that absolutely flies. It was found in a heated barn in Pennsylvania. It had not run for many years. The original mileage is only 8616 miles. I contacted the owner and purchased it site unseen. We cleaned or replaced everything from the tank thru and including the carbs. I found and installed new NOS dual rubber air boot from carbs to air box which are impossible to find. New seals or o-rings or gaskets and fuel line and filters. Flushed the oil tank and replaced the site window ( it was cracked and leaked ) with a new NOS Yamaha part. Replaced the ignition switch with a NOS Yamaha part with two new keys. Replaced the seat foam and cover with a new one. Replaced both tubes and tires with new stock. Found two mirrors. Fuel tank is amazingly clean. I was shocked ! Replaced fuel cap with a new NOS cap. Replaced both side engine covers with NOS stock. Headlight was replaced. but might not be stock. The only item on the bike that does not work is the high beam. The low beam works just fine. Rear brake light works as it should. Hey I have to give you something to do ! We tuned her up. did an engine oil change and replaced the front fork seals and oil. Replaced the front brake cable. She starts right up with the electric start . yes you heard that correctly magic button ! How nice huh ! She kicks right over also if you are feeling the urge. Super easy to start either way. Most of the parts I had to source were very hard to find and as a result. very expensive. Everything I replaced or found was genuine Japanese NOS Yamaha parts. No cheap Chinese or Taiwan or Vietnamese parts were used. Only exception was tires. tubes. and maybe mirrors. The side pads on the fuel tank are a little rough. especially the right side pad. There are some old scratches and stains on both sides of the tank. could possibly be rubbed out with a good detail. There are ( of course ) scratches and nicks on all the paint work. which is normal for a 47 year old bike. Let me just say that all things considered. this bike is in outstanding original condition. I did not replace anything that was original. unless it had to be replaced for safety. There is some rust on the rear shock springs. light rust on some of the spokes and rims. There is some light rust on the original exhaust and exhaust heat shields. It is amazing to even find an entire bike this original ! Epesciallly a completely original set of exhaust pipes and heat shields on a 47 year old bike that was probably ridden off road from time to time like all scramblers were back then. I am sure I have left out a few things. Let me just say. the two guys that work on my vintage two strokes are the best and most knowledgeable I have ever found ! This would be a really tough project without their expertise ! I have decided to sell this beauty to move on to another new project. Please ask any questions you might have now ! If you win the auction and pay for the bike and come to pick it up and find that my description was not accurate. then I will refund your money ! However. if you win it. pay for it and don't have it inspected before it is picked up by the shipper. the deal is final ! This is a 47 year old bike that was preserved in a very nice condition. There is no warranty expressed or implied. This is an as is sale ! Please be responsible about your bids. Don' t bid if you don' t intend to purchase ! Please be respectful and professional in our dealings. and I assure you that I will be the same ! That is the buyers responsibility. I will assist the shipper with pickup at my location. This bike is currently plated and registered with a clean title in hand. The bike is for sale locally as well. and if it does sell here I will end the auction early !Thanks and regards.
