The second generation TMAX was released into the USA market for the 2009 &2010 model year.

The TMAX combines motorcycle performance with the convenience and flexibility for commuting of a scooter. The TMAX follows a large scooter configuration with aparallel-twin cylinder, ounterbalanced water-cooled 499cc, uel-injected engine mated to acontinuously variable transmission(CVT) supported by a cast-aluminium frame. The final drive to the rear wheel is a chain inside the left swingarm in an oil bath and the engine is mounted on the frame rather than on the swing arm, hich is the convention on most scooters.

The TMAX also has quad piston brake calipers in front similar to theYamaha YZF-R6sport bike, nd 43mm telescopic forks.
