Description

I am selling my custom 1982 Yamaha xs400 powered dual sport motorcycle. This bike is my hand built blend of an off-road Yamaha suspension. and an on-road Yamaha engine. I performed all the work myself and have enjoyed riding this bike for two seasons. It has the engine from a xs400 (2-cyclinder) and the chassis is part xt350 and the rest is hand built. Most everything on this bike has been cleaned painted. rebuilt. or built new. The bike runs well and has been a joy to ride. It has not been beaten or crashed. It has Electric and kick start. The electric start works great. the kick start does work but the new oversized foot pegs make it slightly awkward to use. It has excellent suspension. and disc brakes front and rear. It has a trail tech vapor computer. It has Mikuni 30mm round slide carbs and twin K&N cone filters. It has a removable luggage rack and many other nice features. I build all my bikes to ride so. it is in good shape but has a little dirt and use on it. The paint is beautiful. I has decent power. It is not a race bike by any means but moves alone well enough for a 300lb bike with a 400cc engine. I have a few different sprockets that will be included with the bike as well as some other misc parts. I have been using this bike for in town commuting and no highway riding so right now it is geared low. 55-60mph is all the faster I take it. I have other sprockets that will bring the RPMs down if you plan on going faster but that isn't what I built this bike for. I intended it to be a unique smooth running bike for city/backcountry exploration. The only part of this bike I never really finished is the ignition switch mount. It uses the factory Yamaha key but isn't bolted to anything. I just have it zip tied to the upper triple clamp. It works just fine I just wanted to make you aware. This is a really unique bike. it has been recognized and featured on bikeexif and silodrome. It is also currently featured as the home page story on xs400 forum. Please feel free to ask questions. As stated before. I would like to see this bike go to a person with some mechanical skill. It has carbs and tappet valves and will need maintenance. jetting. and tuning from time to time. Thanks for looking let me know if you have any questions.
