Yamaha RZ250R YPVS / RZ250 (same as RD350 N) - 1988 - Low mileage - Two-Stroke

This is a 1988 Yamaha RZ250R YPVS.

This bike was imported into the UK back in 1997. I have the import papers which have been stamped by the UK customs & excise and show all import duty was paid on the bike then. Also have the export papers from United Arab Emirates where it was imported from. The bike has never been UK registered and has been sat in dry storage ever since it was imported. So you will need to register it with the DVLA.

This is why the mileage is so low on the bike. the speedo shows just 10. 66kms. so only 6700 miles! The bike is all original in colours. etc. The bodywork is fair condition. the petrol tank does have a dent in it (as pictured). It looks rust free inside the tank. The rest of the bike is pretty good for a bike of this age.

The brakes are binding a bit. which you would expect from being stood. The battery is totally flat. The rear tyre needs a new valve in it. it has been broken off at the rim. So can not pump it up at all. The exhausts are the original Yamaha ones with detachable silencers (not fixed as on the UK 350 models). they do have some dents on them. The left hand handle bar is slightly bent and one indicator stem has broken.

I have given the carbs a quick clean out and some fresh fuel and she fired up straight away. The engine sounded very quiet. These engines are the same as the RD350. So you could drop some larger 350 cylinders onto it if you wished. However the RZ250 does ride very nice and are great fun to ride.

Basically the same as the RD350N2 YPVS. but with 250cc cylinders. Also the carbs are slightly different. as they operate with a pull/push twin throttle cable design. Plus some other differences like no grab rail. seat strap. etc.
