Classic 1985 Yamaha CA-50 Salient Scooter Riva moped (+ another one for spares)

Here is a lovely original example of a classic Japanese scooter in excellent condition. It is a 1985 Yamaha Salient and has covered 2164 miles. I bought this bike 10 months ago for my girlfriend from a policeman in Leicester who had bought it from the first owner for his girlfriend but she never ended up using it. Obviously from the wonderful condition of the bike the original owner used it very little and looked after it meticulously. After purchasing the bike I drained the oil and fuel and replaced with fresh. had the carb replaced and adjusted and a full service including new brake shoes. spark plug. HT lead and brake light switch at Scooter Den in Dalston which cost £200 (I have the receipt as proof). The exhaust had a hole in so I fitted a genuine Yamaha replacement. After this it starts. runs and stops perfectly and sailed through the MOT with no advisories. My girlfriend took it on a test ride around the block and that's all it's done since (she?ˆ™s realised that she is happier pedalling around London than motoring). The bike is now in storage at my friends workshop in Dartford. I have had the battery on trickle charge and have started the bike periodically to keep it ticking over. It?ˆ™s in amazing condition for a 30 year old scooter. with bright shiny plastic (the majority of scooters of this age have very dull faded panels). I?ˆ™d be surprised if there are many examples on the road in as good condition as this. It's a very light. compact and fun scooter to ride and in my opinion has the nicest styling of all of the early Japanese twist and go?ˆ™s (the rear panels and front mudguard have a little Italian style to them). It is very easy to ride due to the automatic transmission. automatic oil injection. automatic choke. electric start (all cutting edge technology when the bike was new!)Everything. including all lights. horn. indicators. electric and kick start. fuel gauge. auto choke. throttle. brakes work as they should (other than the speedo which seems to have stopped working since it was serviced. I haven?ˆ™t looked into why but I purchased a brand new genuine Yamaha speedo cable which is included in the sale. I just never got around to fitting it). The bike features a period Rickman top box with lock (and key).   The ignition/steering lock and seat lock/helmet hook are operated by the same original Yamaha key. It even still has the original tiny tool kit!From a few feet away you would think it was a brand new scooter. on closer inspection the only tell tale signs that the bike is 30 years old are a couple of feint scratches to the rear panels. the ?ˆ?chrome?ˆ™ has rubbed off some of the letters on the Salient badges (NOS ones are available on eBay). a scrape to the trim on the left hand side and the bottom of the rear panel on the right hand side. some paint missing from the engine case and some minor pitting to the wheels (see photos). These are all only very minor points but I want to be honest and point out all of the bits that aren?ˆ™t perfect. I have the V5 document and MOT certificate (until December 12th) and it is taxed until the end of December (It is guaranteed to fly through the MOT. tax costs £17 for 12 months)It?ˆ™s had a new genuine Yamaha carb. new Inoue (Japanese) tyres. new Yuasa 6v battery. new brake shoes. spark plug and HT lead. Also included is the original owners manual. the original service log book. owners certificate and a genuine Yamaha service manual all in mint condition. A spare carb. new genuine Yamaha speedo cable as mentioned earlier and new spare brake light switch are also included. as well as 1 litre of semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil and a full tank of Shell V-Power Nitro+!The sale will include another mostly complete matching scooter with running engine for spares. It has a few missing parts. ignition barrel and air box being the most obvious.   This bike is obviously not in as good condition as the other and the panels have some cracks (see photo). I do not have the V5 for this bike. I'm based in East London but the bikes are at my mate's workshop near Dartford. All in all. it's a lot of fun for hardly any money.
