1991 Yamaha TZ250 B - 3YL

The first of the customer V twin 250cc two strokes by Yamaha. the 3YL is in my opinion the best looking TZ250 ever made. Taking its styling cues from the YZR500 of the same year. the aggressive body styling and angular lines make this a bike for the 2T purist.

The bike is in need of complete restoration. offering a great way for the average man to still buy an affordable two stroke GP bike. It's rare to find 'untouched' race bikes these days. most have been restored with varying degrees of success. Doing the work yourself is not only enjoyable. but gives you the confidence all the important parts have been replaced. When you buy someone else’s restoration. you are never quite sure.

The bike has been poorly stored. probably unused for 15+ years. There is rust and oxidisation on all parts. as well as a broken clip-on. It needs a nut & bolt strip down and rebuild. cleaning. vapourblasting and rebuilding as you go. The rear wheel is a wider Tecnomagnesio  5. 25x17 inch. the rest of the bike is completely original – even down to the carb covers.

Why spend your time watching meaningless TV. when you can while away a few hours in the workshop/garage each evening? It's rare to have a hobby you can make money from.
