Description

1996 Yamaha XJ 900 F with just 1 previous owner and 27450 miles

This is a very tidy. very good condition and still very original bike.

I have both keys

The old style single sheet V5

MOT valid until 16 November 2015

This bike has had one previous owner

Mileage is shown as 27450

I bought this bike from a retired gentleman who had last taxed it back in 2005 but due to back problems had been unable to ride it since then. It has been stored in a garage during this time. As you can see from the pictures. this XJ 900 is in very nice condition. I have had it re-commissioned for the road with a new battery. the carburettors have been ultrasonically cleaned so the engine starts on the button and runs really smoothly. I have had new fork seals fitted where the originals had dried out. Fresh Oil and filter and given it a thorough check over before being MOT'd with no advisories. The bike starts willingly. runs and rides with no known faults. The tyres are in good condition with a sensible profile and are about 40-50% worn.

The o/s exhaust has a scuff on the rear edge that has been touched in (so look hard if you want to see it). The tank has had been treated where they all go and there is a minor scuff on the o/s edge of the fairing but it's not obvious. The rear indicators are not original. The lacquered engine castings are a bit marbled.

For what it's worth. I really like this bike. I think it's ultra smooth retro looks are straight out of the seventies. I love the narrow fairing. the oil/air cooled super smooth engine and shaft drive. the sporty belly pan. rally watchstrap wheels and the long flowing lines. These are becoming such a popular choice for Cafe racer projects and this one with it's fantastic condition and ultra low mileage (just 27450) would be a perfect starting point but to be fair in the unmolested original condition this one is in it would be a good idea to ride it as it is.

I’m in South Devon

I am located in beautiful sunny South Hams in Devon close to Plymouth. Exeter and Totnes. so handy for trains or Exeter airport. The roads are twisty and scenic. so why not collect and make a weekend of it. Ride stunning coastal roads or head up on to the moors and end the day with a good meal and a few pints of Jail Ale at the Plume of Feathers in Princetown (there’s camping and a bunk house if you over do it!) Head for The Camel and discover the vineyard that beat the best Champaign to hold the title for the world’s best sparkling rose.  Don’t go home without a mega brunch at Cap’n Jaspers on the Barbican in Plymouth. nbsp;loved by bikers. sailors. later-nighters and. er. pirates!? Spend an evening in great company. alfresco at The Winking Prawn in Salcombe or spend a lazy afternoon at The Oyster Shack in Averton Gifford. Of course there are cream teas. pasties and some brilliant British surf.  Great gastro pubs. beer and loads of B&B's.  Most importantly you’ll find a welcome from all the bikers in Devon and Cornwall which has the highest density of motorcycles per capita in the UK!

I’m a Trader.

I am selling as a TRADER (this differs from a DEALER: I do not have a retail premises) with 20 years' experience in the trade. I managed a BMW dealership since 1999 (UK's favourite dealer 2006/7 RiDE Survey).  Previous experience in a multi-franchise and a London Harley Davidson dealer.
