This is a bereavement sale of what appears to be a one owner machine used for extensive touring for ten years. This model is beautifully built and fitted with the same ROTAX engineered V Twin which powered the RSV sports bikes so it is very tough and offers outstanding performance. I owned one of these machines and found the handling and comfort was superior to almost all other adventure bikes that I had ridden plus the V twin motor is a gem. The only regular criticism I found in any articles that I read was the suspension was considered too soft but easily modified with upgraded fork springs and rear shock. I believe one reason that prices for Aprilia's can be so low is due to electrical problems which can work out expensive but at 51. 00 miles. I assume this bike's mid life crisis is over.

The bike stood for some while after the owner stopped using it. the last MOT expiring in September 2013. so we bought it as a non runner. The oil was checked and no emulsifying identified. not even on the underside of the oil filler cap. Petrol added and the battery charged. After a few  decent spins of the motor. the bike fired and gradually settled down to q quite. even tick over with no untoward leaks or noises.

A brief ride around the industrial estate confirmed that the transmission all worked as it should but could not be 'pushed' given the riding confines. Brakes had not seized up and operated as they should.

Looking over the machine. we observed the following:

1) Tyres: The rear tyre is effectively new with bobbins. The front tyre has plenty of tread  remaining

2) The rear  pads look almost new. The front pads are part worn but it is not easy to see the full extent. No brake binding.

3) The drive chain has adequate adjustment remaining but has some corrosion attributable to the lay up so may stretch a bit once used.

4) The chrome on the fork legs is good. The left fork seal is weeping . (We can replace if needed-see below)

5)All the lights work as they should.

6) The horn does not work. We suspect a connection. (Again we can deal with this. see below)

7)The rear light which illuminates the number plate is missing which is normally an MOT failure. These can be bought online for a nominal sum. (Once again. we can deal with this)

8)There are LED day riding lights wired in . right next to the radiator. Very bright. We have tried to illustrate them I one of the photos

9)Neat POZZI style adjustable bar levers

12)Most times when starting up. the red EFI light flashes with no obvious effect on the running of the bike

As  mentioned. the bike runs and rides well. Obvious items for the MOT is the horn. one fork seal and rear number plate illumination. If you want this bike with an MOT we can do the work at a cost of £35 per hour plus VAT and parts /£30 test fee or a flat fee of £120  plus VAT  plus the cost of the test to cover any eventualities required to pass the MOT. Note this machine is sold without warranty so viewing is not only advisable but welcomed.
