BMW R80 G/S Paris Dakar special edition Gaston Rahier

Extremely rare and original BMW R80 GS Gaston Rahier ; first registered march 1988 . so one of the last to be built (final production was end 87).

I was told that this bike started life in Switzerland where it belonged to a swiss policeman.

Judging by how well it has been kept . e certainly was swiss. It has never been restored/resprayed.

Only the front mudguard (Acerbis) and the plastic side covers are not original.

Except for some smoke when starting (I intended to overhaul the engine; have to change my plans as . ue to health problems. I may not ride such heavy bikes anymore-although it's not that heavy-) . it drives as it should.
