1983 BMW R100 Cafe Bike

Greetings-

The bike started life as an R80RT. It was transformed into an R80RS with R100 cylinders. It now is an R100 caf?©. The parts used are BMW unless noted. The following work was done:

Engine-

Engine was disassembled to the block with the crank and cam left in

Oil pump inspected and resealed

New oil pressure switch installed

New rear main seal and bolts installed

Breather system valve replaced and system resealed

Oil pickup disassembled and resealed

New timing chain. tensioner and crank sprocket with new seals installed

Oil pressure relief valve disassembled and inspected

New Piston rings installed

Cylinders honed and exterior painted

Heads cleaned. valves cut with and milled to flat

New valve springs installed

New lifters

New adjusters and lock nuts for valves

New pushrod tubes installed

Top-end reassembled with all new seals

Valve covers replaced with /5 style

New intake rubbers

Engine oil and filter changed

Engine run-in on several heat cycles and then heads re-torqued and valves re-set

Frame/chassis-

Steering bearings replaced

Swingarm stripped. repainted and new swingarm bearings installed

Subframe modified

Subframe and mainfrain cleaned and the paint touched up

New sidestand installed

Aftermarket fiberglass rear seat installed

Stock front fender modified and installed

BMW headlight ears modified. painted and installed with new bushings

BoxerMetal rearsets installed

BoxerMetal rear fender elimintaor modified and installed

BoxerMetal rear light and License plate holder installed

All Bodywork stripped and painted by Custom Classics

New fuel cap keyed and installed

Seat created and installed by local fabricator

Wheels re-painted. tape pinstriped and new bearings installed

New Conti tires with new tubes installed

Brakes-

Rebuilt front master cylinder

Rebuilt calipers with new BMW parts

New front EBC brake pads

New Speigler steel braided lines

New lower hard lines installed

New bleeders installed

EBC rotors cleaned and re-installed

Rear shoes cleaned. inspected and re-installed

Suspension-

Front forks stripped

New piston rings installed

Fork springs measured and re-installed

Aftermarket anti-dive system re-installed

New seals throughout

Fork lowers re-painted and new emblems installed

Aftermarket fork brace installed

New YSS piggyback shocks installed

Aftermarket upper triple clamp reinstalled

Carbs/exhaust-

Carbs completely overhauled

BoxerMetal airbox eliminator kit installed

BoxerMetal choke kit installed

New throttle cables installed

New Fuel taps and fuel line installed

Carbs jetted to exhaust and filters

Mac 2-into-1 exhaust modified and installed

Transmission/clutch/final drive ?ˆ“

Transmission stripped

New transmission bearings throughout

New pawl spring

New seals throughout

Transmission shimmed to spec

New neutral switch

New neutral switch harness

Clutch inspected and re-installed

New clutch cable

New clutch boot

Final drive stripped and resealed

New driveshaft bolts. boot and clamps

New final drive nuts and gasket

Electrical-

New Omega diode board

Alt rotor and stator cleaned and re-installed

BMW later model voltage regulator installed

Charge light run through parking light bulb

New BMW sparkplug wires with new spark plugs installed

New left and right control switch with light on/off installed

Acewell instrument installed with BoxerMetal mount and wired

Battery relocated to rear seat hump

Battery cables lengthened and installed

New Westco battery installed in custom bracket

Aftermarket turn signals installed on handlebar ends with aftermarket diode box for single bulb

Stock wiring harness cleaned and connections lubed

Other-

New BMW grips

New aftermarket mirrors

Bike has been ridden roughly 450 miles since the rebuild

It will be delivered with fresh engine oil and filter
