I purchased this 1970 Bonneville from a collection in Birmingham AL. It had been in that collection since 1996. This bike is fitted with a Period Sonny Routt (Maryland Castings) 750cc kit. Cylinder has all the MC (triangle) casting marks & numbers. It has Amal Monobloc Carbs. Starts easily when cold with a couple of pushes on the ticklers and 2-3 kicks. First kick when warm. Everything electrical works engine pulls cleanly & strongly shifts nicely with no smoke or oil leaks. Numbers Matching. My information was that it was restored prior to 1996. There is one small chipped head fin that was dressed but not repaired. This bike has the T120RT stamping with the same style of non-serifed West Coast "T" that would have been added 750cc AMA racing homologation. The "T" stamp matches exactly under magnifying glass with other know T120RT's and was even thought to be a T120RT after being looked at by a well known expert. I sent the bikes serial # to the AMA and they could not match it to their list known T120RT #'s. Due to thisI am selling this bike as a standard 1970 Bonneville with the Period Routt Kit and Carbs added at some point many years ago. I am mostly into Ducati's & have a '73 750 GT soon to be on it's way to me. I have room for four bikes in my garage and with a lot of regret have to let something go to make room for the new Duc. Will try to answer any questions (not a Triumph Expert) or happy to take any more specific photos. Buyer is responsible for arranging all shipping or pick up. I will certainly help with any logistics I can. $250 deposit by PayPal within 24 hours. Balance by Cash or Bank Check before I will ship or release title. I have clear Virginia Title in my name.
On Jun-01-15 at 17:46:02 PDT seller added the following information:The Carbs are are AMAL CONCENTRICS(As fitted standard to the '70) with the choke delete modification done to them. I was confusing the carbs with the Amal Monoblocs on another bike that had been offered me.
On Jun-02-15 at 08:02:45 PDT seller added the following information:Just to clear up some questions: On the RT's the extra "T" was only on the engine case. Correct Complete vin isListed. There was no additional stamping on the frames. The extra "T" was stamped here in the U.S. after the 750cc kit was fitted. "T" stamped bikes vin's were supplied to the AMA for homogation of a 750cc to compete with the XR750 harleys and BSA's. There needed to be 200 bikes converted to submit the 750cc for homologation - and no one knows the absolute exact number that were done. Some say 204 - some say more. There is a ton of internet information & discussion about the T120RT's. On the bike in the Photos - is an aftermarket fuel tank. Paint has lifted around one of the fuel petcocks from leakage ( cheap afermarket petcocks) I have the original tank with original petcocks. It's in great shape - only the paint was not quite as pretty. I'm adding a photo of the original tank. I feel the original tank should go on this bike anyway and I'm swapping them out. - the winner can have the after market tank. Just want to be upfront about it.
