Description

This bike was found in incomplete condition in a wrecking yard nearly 30 years ago. I got it along with a truckload of BSA A10 parts about 2 years ago. Best info is that there were 272 of these built in 1962-1963. It was in pieces when I got it with engine partially disassembled. I finished engine teardown, leaned/replaced sludge trap. It appears crankshaft has never been ground. I can't find the numbers now, ut rod journals and timing side were within standard specs and timing side bush was still good. Shimmed and reassembled, ndfloat= .002". Cam is a 357. Cases were apparently replaced at some time and were never stamped. Apparently common back in the day, s neither engine I got was stamped. One piston was seized when I got it, o replaced pistons/cylinders with a set that I was told had only 200 miles on it, 040" oversized, ot sure of compression ratio. As this was an offroad machine it did not have a generator (notice blanking plate on inner timing cover. I'm including the gear/sprocket and chain in case new owner wants to add lights. Scrambler transmission, 've never opened it. I've been loosely assembling for easy shipping. Fork tubes and seals are new, ngine is almost ready to go. Couldn't find the cam gear nut and timing cover only has a few screws holding it. Short a couple rocker box bolts, o they are not tightened down. Missing rear axle spacer. Rear rim is in much better shape than front because it was replaced with an 18" (should be 19"). I don't have the correct engine and trans mounting bolts, o just put what I had in to hold it together for shipping. Centerstand is not correct, ut it was the only one I got and it works. For mileage I put 100 because I had to enter something. I don't think these bikes ever had speedometers. That's pretty much everything I know about it. I have far too many projects and I've come to realize I'll never get this one finished the way it should be done, o ask any questions and happy bidding!
