1966 BSA Lightning A65 650 Numbers Matching

1966 BSA Lightning in great shape for its age! This BSA is blast to ride!  It goes down the highway perfectly and is nimble and quick in the city! The bike runs and idles great! Tickle the monobloc carbs and the bike starts within two or three kicks max! I believe the miles to NOT be original but cannot verify it. I believe this bike to be about 95-98% complete and correct. If any experts want to verify that I will gladly update the listing! I will try my best to describe the bike in detail over the next few paragraphs but please feel free to ask any questions that I may not of covered. This bike is for sale locally. We reserve the right to end this listing at any time. Front End:The handle bars are nice and straight and the switches all work as expected. The gauges are nice and clear and appear to be period correct. The throttle. clutch. brake levers and cables all move smoothly. The choke works but the cable is frayed. The bike starts easily without the choke in temps over 45 degrees. The front headlight works well and the bucket/ears are in excellent shape! The forks are not pitted and do not leak. The front drum brake works well and appears to be in good shape. The front rim is nice and straight but the chrome is flaking and is rusting. The front tire has great tread left and overall good shape. The front fender is nice and straight with slight surface rust and minor pitting and no obvious dents or dings. Engine:The engine starts on the second or third kick and runs great. Once warmed up the bike will idle perfectly.  The carburetors have been ultrasonically cleaned. new plugs installed. points cleaned and all fluids changed. A very clean motor for its age. The exhaust is intact and has minor rust (no holes but pitting) and the mufflers have several dents and dings. Body:The gas tank has one small dent on the left side under the emblem and has the tank and side covers have obviously been repainted. Besides the one small dent. the chrome on the tank is in great shape with only small scratches and scuffs. The paint on the tank is faded and has a few "smudge" marks on the top by the gas cap. The inside of the tank is clean and seems to be virtually rust free. The seat foam is in great shape and the seat cover has no tears or rips. The side panels are complete and in great shape. The right side cover has a small crack near the oil fill. The rear fender and tail light are in excellent condition with no dents. scrapes or breakage. All rubber for the foot pegs are in good to great shape. The grab bar is nice and solid.  Rear End:The rear rim is nice and straight and the chrome is starting to flake off and rusty. The rear tire is in good shape and little to no wear. The rear drum brake works well. The chain guard is in overall great condition with slight surface rust and pitting. The rear shocks have minor surface rust. The tail light is in great shape.  Electrical:The headlight and tail light work great. The wire harness is intact and has a few splices but not bad for its age. Overall. the bike is in good riding condition and a blast to ride around! The BSA brings in a crowd whenever you show up! This numbers matching bike will only increase in value as it ages! Buy it now while its still affordable!
