1904 Harley Davidson Strap Tank Engine First year Harley motor

Anyone who knows about early Harley's may know what this is. The very first Harley built in 1904. or possibly 1903 had 6 engine case studs. and the clamps on the bottom of the engine were moved forward of the 1905 6 bolt cases. This is the only 1904 style engine in the world. This is an exact copy of the prototype built in 1904 that is pictured here. I built this engine in order to replicate the prototype which has been lost to history. The prototype was last seen in 1916 in the possession of C. H. Lange. who was the first investor in the Harley Davidson Company and its first dealer in Chicago. After 1916 the bike disappeared and was never seen again. Imagine Harley's very first bike just gone. There is some evidence that the bike may have been in Langes home in Chicago until it was demolished in 1979 and everything thrown in the trash. Many years of work went into producing this engine in the hopes of building the whole bike someday. but things have changed and it will never get done by me. It seems hard for me to sell it. but maybe it won't sell. Either way i'm putting it out there. If your interested let me know.
