For sale is a gorgeous 1998 Harley Davidson Heritage Springer Softail. Model FLSTS. The color is Vivid Black with Laser Red Pearl - considered by many to be the most desirable color combination. Two weeks ago an identical bike with higher mileage sold for $11. 00. I've priced my 'Buy It Now' well below that figure in hopes of expediting the sale. and my reserve is set below the lowest price I've seen a Springer sell for.
The Heritage Springer Model FLSTS came with a bunch of chrome from the factory. and this bike has a number of 95th anniversary placards/accessories as well. This motorcycle comes with the following additions:
95th Anniversary Evo Chrome Cover Set (includes 95th Anniversary derby cover. air cleaner cover and timing cover)
95th Anniversary fender medallion
Solo seat back rest with tall 95th Anniversary pad;
Detachable quick-release chrome solo rack;
Detachable. quick-release chrome two-up luggage rack;
Detachable 95th Anniversary windshield
95th Anniversary windshield bag
95th Anniversary Dashinator Insert;
95th Anniversary Passenger seat;
Passenger back rest with grab handles and 95th Anniversary Tall Pad;
Passenger floorboards;
Vintage Tung-Sol Passing Lamps. /p>
Leather laced hand grips with fringe. clutch/brake lever fringe. /p>
Highway bar (AKA"engine bar" or "crash bar");
Original fishtail mufflers are not included with the sale.
As stated in the condition description. Michelin black-sidewall tires and battery are new. Synthetic oil and harley filter 200 miles ago.
While I have little personal history with the vehicle having only purchased it this Fall. it is clear from the mileage that the older gentleman I purchased this bike from actually used it. I believe that normal use and care is much better for a bike than sitting mostly idle for the past 15 years. The previous owner reported that the bike has been nothing but reliable and that he would not hesitate to ride it anywhere. regardless of distance. He also stated that the bike has never been run hard (and given his age and condition. I believe him). The motorcycle is stored inside in a heated garage. If you are looking for a pristine example with no imperfections and virtually no miles. this obviously is not the bike for you. If you're looking for a very presentable. reliable and collectible motorcycle that you don't have to pay 15K for. you may have found your ride.
As indicated in the vehicle condition description. this motorcycle is in good used condition. There are a two dime size dings that I would like to point out. One is on the lower right of the rear fender. The other is on the top right side of the front fender. The paint is not chipped or cracked at either. and I have been told that they could be easily pulled/repaired. I believe these to be the only major blemishes. These are clearly shown in the the photographs and I tried to capture them at their worst (i. e. light accentuating the dent). Aside from these. there's only normal wear that occurs with use to note. I would classify the paint and chrome as being in very good (but not perfect) condition. The 80 cubic inch Evolution engines have long enjoyed a reputation for reliability and this motorcycle is a fine example of that. The motorcycle starts immediately. runs well. uses no oil. does not smoke. leaks no oil/fluids. accelerates smoothly and shifts positively. It also has new Michelin tires and a new battery. I purchased the bike off an older gentleman whose ongoing health issues prevented him from riding it as much as he used to. I had planned on keeping this. however. an unforeseen family expense forces the sale. Right now I need the money more than the bike.
This motorcycle is an absolute head-turner. It isn't uncommon for people to walk right past modern baggers worth 30K to look at this old bike. It has the awesome single cam (Evo) exhaust note and characteristic slow gallop at idle. Sometimes called the "Old Boy". or simply a "Hertiage Springer". it was modeled after the 1948 Harley FL "Panhead". I think these bikes are among the best looking ever made by the company. I also believe that they are money in the bank. They were relatively low production. only made for a handful of years and have a very strong following (check out HSOA). In my opinion and experience. they will always command a premium. Don't believe me? Check out some completed listings. The motorcycle is currently registered/insured with a clear NY title. There are no liens on the bike.
