Selling on behalf of a friend. so over to him :-). Honda CB550 K3 genuine UK registered bike NOT an import. First date of registration is 18/06/1979I have had some what of a 30 year on/off love affair with this motorcycle. owning her for 19 years. selling her twice and then regaining ownership in 2005The motorcycle is currently on SORN and has been for the past 15 years. She has undergone 2 total refurbishment builds by myself. The first in 1984 which included:a powder coated framecomplete engine rebuild with all genuine Honda componentsThe Second was finished in 1996 but this time the genuine 1970's 2/4 race seat was professionally recovered. the base was refurbished in the first rebuild. this in its self is a VERY RARE item these days!!The powder coat on the frame had lost its shine so this was painted in black 2K paint. The wheels were changed to comastar. The petrol tank was changed to a new old stock CB500 item. a much nicer shape for the cafe racer style (and is still excellent inside NO RUST!!!) The engine top end had a full rebuild with all genuine Honda components:guidesvalvespiston rings(on standard bore)carbs sorted to run K. N filtersreplacement cam chain tensioner (these are always a problem on this bike)From this build the engine has only covered around 6000 miles! Before being SORN I was going to do another total rebuild but now have lost the heart for it. She is now in a tatty state. paint loss from most of the engine and forks. even powder coat loss on a small section of frame under points cover and a little blistering to swing arm also to a little to the rear foot pegs at the bolt points and side stand. Otherwise the frame has survived time remarkably well. a great testament to the original powder coating . I will be using this on future buildsThe rectifier regulator has a broken tang. this may be repairable or may need replacing Unfortunately due to a garage break in by metal thieves I no longer have the original wire wheels. petrol tank. eft & right switch gear. the cafe racer style drop handle-bars. Also missing is the solenoid. throttle choke clutch cables. left hand side panel. top yoke nut. seat catch. rear chain (due to rusting Its been thrown away) K. N filters (due to deterioration and collapsing they have also been binned) there's likely to be other small bits that I've forgotten about (there's a lot information about this bike) . if I happen to find any missing parts before the auction ends ill put them with her or after I will forward on to the new owner However I have had her running a few days ago by simply connecting a battery direct to the coils. she sounded reasonable with NO smoke even with open carbs and the tail pipe slipped on. but would advise to rebuild any how. I strongly advise viewing as this is being sold as a project or restoration but she's certainly not a rot box!!!I will also throw in with the sale a spare crankshaft with rods. gears. shafts. selector. sprag clutch. clutch. sump filter. original air box and genuine rotor (all shown in last picture) the genuine original handbook is also included in the sale although not shown in the last photo. this is very rare to come byThe Clocks were changed in 1984. original showing 18'000. replacement read 27'000 . so original mileage covered is 9'000 less than clocks now show. so thats 34'000 original milesPLEASE study the photos. I've been as honest as I can. Viewing is recommended and strongly advised. Be under no impression that you can pick her up one day and MOT the next. she needs love and attention. more photos can be sent upon request for any questions or to arrange a viewing please call me.
